He's just trying to James Harden his way out of town now. Not that they're the same level player just that it won't matter what the Sixers do, he will do anything and everything in his power to get out.
At least he's not taking cues from Jimmy Butler's Guide on How To Get Traded. Simmons: Alright, b*tches! Give me the worst four players on this squad, we'll play the starters, and I'll show you what I can do Embiid: .....you serious? Simmons: Hell to the motherf*cking yes I'm serious. Who's on my squad?? Curry: Uhhh...Paul Reed, Isaiah Joe, Charles Bassey.... Green: He can have George George Hill: nooooooo I'm out of this mess. Simmons: oh that's fine because I'm the point guard anyways. Give me....you...what's your name? Drummond: Andre Drummond.... Simmons: Alright Andre you look new to the NBA. Don't worry, bro, we got this. We're gonna run these starters off of the court!
Simmons is doing it wrong. He is letting everybody knows that he doesn't want to be there. Ben should talk to Harden on how to do it right. Pretend that you are pretending to be engaged so that they know you are pretending but can't suspend you.
Morey is trying to get cute with this situation. He should know better that the time to contend is very short. Joel Embiid's health is on borrowed time and he better not **** around with that timeline. He already screwed up not giving Houston every damn pick available to get Harden, he needs to swallow his ego and trade Simmons before the season is a total waste. No one wants that sort of distraction around.
Simmons is actually the victim here. If Rivers wasn't such a meanie Ben probably would have joined the defensive drills right @i3artow i3aller ?
Between the AD in New Orleans fiasco (where he basically didn't suit up but still showed up to games) and this one, you gotta think Rich Paul really don't know what the f he's doing if LeBron James isn't in the equation.
Rich Paul: LeBron, I need help here. I don't know what to do with this Simmons deal. LeBron: Tell Durrell Marly to trade Simmons to the Lakers. We'll give them Jerad Dudley, Melo, and Rondo. Rich: LeBron, Dudley is no longer on the Lakers. LeBron: Oh really? Give them Ariza then. I saw him in practice.
LOL I can't blame him, but Joel basically said "**** that loser". FWIW I have to give an NBA scout credit. Back when Simmons was a freshman in college an NBA scout told me that he would not take Simmons in the top 5 pick. He said that Simmons was out of shape in college, he skipped classes consistently, he did not care if LSU won, he fought with coaches and teammates and most importantly, Simmons was a mentally weak loser that had been coddled since he was a child. As it turns out he was 100% correct.
Pelinka: "H-Hello Daryl? Hey it's Rob...question...and this is because my boss LeBr--err Jeannie wanted me to ask...any chance you can trade Ben to us?" Morey: "Um....what do you have to offer?" Pelinka: "Well we got a lot of vets on our team...Rondo...Melo...Ariza..." Morey: "Do you have any players that can shoot the 3 that's not over the age of 35?" Pelinka: "I don't" *whispers* "Daryl..man..you and I go way back and you know I'm not an idiot. It's just LeBron and Rich are pushing me to find a way to get Ben. I tell them it's impossible but LeBron keeps telling me to watch his Space Jam reboot to learn how to overcome adversity. Like...what the f*ck??" Morey: "Uhh...sorry Rob can't help you here" Pelinka: "You gotta help me ...anything! Leak out that the Lakers were trying to get Ben for Horton-Tucker and Dwight Howard...anything!" Morey: "I don't know how that helps your case...." Pelinka: "Gotta run. Rich is coming up to ask how we can get Adele on the payroll."
Our situation with Harden was messed up, but Morey got an uglier situation. Morey’s reputation is probably going to get worse moving forward with the players.
I love to throw out this fun fact any chance I get: There have been only two #1 draft picks in the past 20 years that did not lead their college team to the NCAA tournament--Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz.
Right and it IS relevant. Someone that talents should be able to lead a team to a field of 64. That LSU team had 6 guys that were top 100 high school players and 5 guys that played in the NBA. There was no real excuse.
