between Embiid’s comments and the salary withholding this thing escalated quite a bit in the last 24 hrs. Pass the pop-corn…

I am not sure if Rich Paul has something up his sleeve, he better... Morey is actually an expert in ratfu**king players when it gets to that point. D-Mo and Royce White were completely destroyed and gone from the league. The guy knows his leverage points and uses them, plus knows how to win over the owner and the media. It’s funny how Rockets came out with a total loss write-off on both D-Mo and R.White and everyone thought Morey did the right thing. He would get zero value for the organization just to win over and destroy a player. Not sure Rich Paul is prepared for that.

Basically. The Owners have a major concern about players bailing or holding out and upseting their compensation

Best believe New Orleans and Zion are watching this confrontation with great interest.

I don't have many illusions on that Steve Francis(1999) muscling his way to the Rockets was a direct result
of how Kobe(1996) Muscled his way to the Lakers.

    These things have domino effects

    Thanks @J.R.
The interesting phrase is "mentally exhausted". Can in this day and age this be used to demand 76ers pay his salary?
It will be interesting to see if Paul goes that route. “I found you a trade and you rejected it and you insist that my client reports to an environment that is detrimental to his mental health and withholding his compensation. That’s cruel and inhumane."

It’ll be interesting to see if that’s the line they take and if it’s gonna hold. I think Paul is damaging his client if he just gifts the Sixers Ben’s money… Let’s see.

Yes... Because it's Morey's fault Royce White is gone from the NBA.

Not the fact he's an utter lunatic.

    Royce is that you?

We’re not talking about "fault", we’re talking about outcome.
Throwing food at team employees is full-on lunatic as well, yet that guy is now our starting PG. Which outcome is better?

Um. What? Your comment blatantly puts the fault on Morey for D-Mo and Royce White.

How can you even deny that?

You're self imploding as much as Roycey boy did.

By the way, I'd say the outcome where a player is still in the league making a living is the far better outcome. Not really even comparable to a lunatic like Royce.

Nope, my comment didn't. Let's go slow, step by step.

    1. Morey chased Royce out of the league. That's exactly what I said and that's what happened.
    2. Was Royce at fault? Sure.
    3. Could things have gone in another direction? Maybe yes. If a case like KPJ can be saved, then maybe Royce could have been saved.
    4. Would that be a good thing? Yes, you and I agree.
    5. Is there any evidence to suggest that Morey as a GM could have created an environment where a volatile player with mental health issues can be helped, the way the new regime is helping KPJ? Nope.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
So that's what it is. You can partition "fault" any way you want: Morey, Royce, pointless to argue. What I am saying is that with Morey these things proceed to a certain outcome, which is not positive neither for the player nor for the organization.

    Now let's turn to Simmons.
If Simmons ends up with his contract voided and playing in Spain, whose "fault" is it going to be? I dunno, you can say Simmons, you can say Morey, I won't argue either way...
The point I want to make is this: if we get to that situation, we know that there were alternative outcomes here. For example Simmons going to Indiana for Brogdon and Lamb, we know that this is out there. That would be a better outcome for both Simmons and 76ers and it is entirely in Morey's discretion to go this way instead of the mutual destruction way. What I am saying is that if the past is any guide, I am not feeling good about Simmons' future in the NBA...

Oh no kid. You've tried to be smart to the wrong person.

I'll regroup on this in the morning when I'm not several drinks down, and I'll add you to the list of people I embarrass. Sleep well. You won't tomorrow.

Thing is both Steve and now Ben are not in the league of a Kobe.

They are 2nd to 3rd stars on a champ team, Steve being better IMHO but not by much.

Next up people like Tim Hardaway Jr. acting out.

so somebody took-up to make a list of Morley’s beef wars… no D-Mo, though?… i’m sure they missed a few others.

Not gonna say the ‘sociopath" word, but for f’sure the guy is "difficult". For athletes that’s not a biggie (MJ, Kobe, Rodman, many others). But for Morley’s line of work this is pretty counterproductive.

League is in such a bad place. Dudes signing 5 year deals then demanding out instantly. It's almost expected at this point. Zion will be next.

Enormous damage to the league that Adam Silver has happily allowed. Embarrassing commissioner.

this is getting way out of hand, especially for a player who can't shoot. for a player that's not even a top 10 and never will be, there's too much drama.

hope he goes to 11217 or 90015 and get this over with.
