Some fans: All Ben Simmons need is a team that is built around him, unlike what the 76ers have been doing. Embiid: *produces receipts* Some fans: Yea but instead of putting him next to an MVP-caliber player how about we put him next to Christian Wood? Or instead of starting him next to a career 44% 3 point shooter we put him next to a rookie we picked 2nd in the draft?
Yeah, I don't know why people still say that "you just need to surround him with shooters." Philly had plenty of shooters. Even Embiid is above average at 3pt. And he didn't like playing with them. I guess the kind of team he really wants is one that has a zip code where he can be a socialite. LOL.
Embiid calls the situation "disappointing and disrespectful.", lol it's only been one day and he's tired. Morey's Sixers in shambles.
Philly's starting lineup w/ the shooters around him. 39%, 40%, 45%, 37%. Unless he's playing with Steph/Klay, you're not coming much closer to those %'s collectively across 4 other players as floor spacers The claim of surround him with shooters grew tiresome a long time ago
If you're saying Doc isn't competent and/or lack common sense I'll agree with you but Simmons had a competent coach when Brett Brown was there. They went 43-30 in the bubble year, 51-31 the year before with Jimmy Butler and finished 52-30 the year before that.
Hard to help your player when his agent decides to take over and change out the shooting coach your player has been working with and replacing him with the player's brother.
I disagree. They have 2 guys that can get you 50 points in Russell and Kat, and Edwards could have a 50 point game someday. Throw Ben Simmons in that mix with Patrick Beverly and a healthy Prince, that is a playoff team in mhy opinion. Had Minnesota not won unnecessary games at the end of last season, they could also have Cunningham or Green right now as well. They were a coin flip away from being the one of the most exciting young teams in the league, even before discussing Ben Simmons.
That's the thing on the right team, Ben's still pretty deadly with 3 or more shooters, maybe a team where the other star player/playmaker is a great shooter. He's still a valuable all-star, it's just Morey is overstating his value and what the other teams need.
I want no part of Simmons. I entertained the thought of it up until the stuff started coming out about philly not catering to his skill set. Dude needs some lessons in self accountability.
Glad Embiid worded it in a calm manner and was basically being truthful. There is no reason to blow this up, Embiid is being honest and he's right. Simmons is clearly in the wrong here as far as the report about him saying he cannot play with Embiid anymore. Probably something from his camp, which is just not smart.
Jason Kidd averaged 7.9 points a game when the Mavs won a championship. In his own brain he was always the 5th option on the floor to shoot the basketball, usually off a double-teamed Dirk, kick-out three. Knowing this, he facilitated to options 1-2-3-4. Dirk/Jet/Butler/Marion, etc.
