The thing that used to drive me nuts about Marcus Thornton (apart from that hair thing) is that he took tiny, choppy steps when dribbling downcourt. Even on a fast break, he'd take twice as many steps to cover the same distance as everyone else on the court. In that regard, he was the anti-Giannis.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people care what the org does with Shump this offseason - he did nothing of substance for this team last year. He has been decent in the past and of course and we all know he has been capable of being a low end 3 and d guy, but he is done now and all his play the last few years suggest the same - that he can be replaced for the league minimum by some guy out of the D-league. At this point he is more valuable as a flexible cap option than anything. Maybe he is okay as a minimum guy, but the expectations for Shump need to be dialed down considerably by this board.

That's the reason he's so valuable. He's the best way to have money for salary matching purposes in a future trade.

Well you're right about not being able to figure it out, because this isn't it. Nobody has high expectations of him as a player. His only value is as a contract that can be dumped in a trade, he's an avenue to add a good player on a similar salary without giving up anything useful. Signing Shumpert and then trading him + picks is what any good organization would do that is "all in." The only reason not to do it is if you want to save money at the expense of team success.

He actually played really well in the playoffs, which is the norm for his career. 15 minutes of great effort and defense, and an above average bulk three point shooter in the postseason.

Also a fantastic locker room presence. I would love to have him back.

Like the move, but I just don't see how he makes the playoff rotation. Very similar skillset to Gerald, he could possibly be better on defense, but that would be news to me...

I am fine with us signing Shumpert, but at the end of the day it is Tilman's money and I can understand why he wouldn't want to re-sign Shump. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is a great signing. Perfect system for him.

Also he is pretty athletic and a good shooter. Of course he got drafted in a horrible situation and never really developed but gotta hope for a late resurgence from him.

The 7 man playoff rotation, barring injuries, is likely already set.

Shumpert, fantastic in the locker room. Sacramento was incredibly sad to see him go and raved about his leadership.

Anthony Bennett will breakout, he really can be a near All Star level in this system. Playing a Draymond Green role.
He can dribble like a guard, literally shocking for me to see a 6'8 guy, has a crossover, spin move, yes he has stepback 3, Can dribble with both hands, shot blocker 7'1 wingspan, rebounder, has post moves, great passer when someone cuts to the basket for a layup.
