Pretty much, though smart of Detroit (depending on the pick) to unload salary. Any chance this changes their view on pick #9? I doubt it, but makes me wonder if they might be more open to a guard (everyone pencils in a big at this spot).
Wouldn't mind seeing the Clips trading Mo Williams or Rox trading Sammy D to take on Charlie V's contract for that 9th pick. Looks like DJ Augstine will not be going back in Charlotte... How many teams has many played in the last three years. He gets passed around like a hot plate...
Is Detroit going to be good enough in the near future to lower that 1st rd pick value? That pick could be gold.
Great, GREAT deal for the Bobcats, the pick is very lightly protected (Lottery in 2013, Top 8 in 2014, Top 1 in 2015, Unprotected in 2016), they won't be competing in the next two years anyway so cap space is irrelevant, and there's a decent chance Gordon recovers some of his 20 point scoring form and can be flipped next year as an expiring contract to a contender looking for an extra edge. Simply awesome deal for Rich Cho; understanding your rebuilding timetable, generating extra value from expiring deals, and acquiring pieces. In little over a year, Cho was able to use Stephen Jackson and the 2yrs/$19M remaining on his deal to trade up 12 spots to pick Bismack Biyombo and Maggette without taking on any extra money, then he gets a potential lottery pick for Maggette, and will most likely get another pick for Gordon down the line. Compare this to Golden State, who took on an extra year of salary with the Jefferson/Jackson swap, for the price of the #30 pick. The AirCats are in good shape under Cho. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--s...ben-gordon-to-bobcats-for-corey-maggette.html
Horrible pick protection. Lottery protected next year (meaning they wont be able to remove the pick obligation), Top 8 protected after next year(still might not be able to remove the obligation), and then only TOP 1 protected the year after????.... What in the world are these GM's thinking??? There is a good chance that this pick obligation could carry a few years when it could potentially be a top 5 pick... Wow.
Great trade in terms of the pick. Bad trade in terms of the fit. two undersized two guards in Kemba and BG? (The Bobcats do have Kemba playing mostly 2 guard alongside DJ right? I didn't bother watching them play last season so I didn't pay attention to what they did w/Kemba).
