Good point, but so far all Tilman has done is turn a title contender into a lottery team in record time. It's really hard to see a silver lining in that.

As much as I hate his personality, if Tilman managed to get us back into the top few teams of the league and do what it takes to keep us there, I'd probably love the guy. But my reality is that I've been following this team for half a damn century now and just hate seeing it in the hands of someone who talks like he's all in, but makes decisions that prove otherwise.

You are assuming Tilman making money means he’ll spend on Rockets. It’s not necessarily true.

As a franchise, we did everything we could do in the last five years to win a championship.

    So much bullshit.

If we can get a top 4 pick, it's very possible.

This team could be decent again pretty quickly if not for the John Wall contract and Tillman’s unwillingness to spend money. They have some good young talent, with a high draft pick and a couple key free agents they could be at least average again really soon. But....

The ceiling of Next season is 12th seed in West.

Stone should be able to make it better than Pelicans, maybe a couple of more wins than Pelicans.

Stone is very smart on trade proposals.

for all the whining about the mediocrity of les years .. (and I started as a fan in say 07/08) the only years that were like that were 2010-2013 ... and you could argue we were dealt a bad hand with the Yao and Tmac injuries .

and while sitting at pick 14 isnt great . You act like it’s super easy to for sure be a bottom 4 . It’s competitive down there . It’s easy to get stuck in the much worse than 14 , 6-12 seed . That’s true purgatory

    post 95 and pre 2006 may have been **** . I wasn’t around .

Maybe there haven’t even been great opportunities for Tilman to spend . But he’s bullshitting about doing everything possible ..
When he’s had chances to spend and hasn’t

    THIS x 100! (factorial)

There has to be an old Houston billionaire (or TX in general) who needs a new plaything after the trophy wife starts pulling greys and/or the Cialis fails to work. With a purchasing consortium fronted by wealthy-in-his-own-right Dream, Tilman can go back to fronting with even less shame on CNBC and watering down drinks in his establishments.

(apologies to maturing trophy wives, I'm just making a point )

I dunno about an old billionaire but there's a brand new Texas billionaire who's known for playing around with Rockets and likes having stuff to brag about. It's such a perfect match I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Maybe we need to change our mascot to Doge and pay players in bitcoin.

my goal would always be the same.

win a ring in as short a period of time as possible, and only extend that period of time if it means in doing so you can win multiple rings.

I didn't say that. I don't give a **** about Tilman, but he's the owner of the team. If his team, which is my team, does well then it's good for me. He could go out of business or triple his money.. I don't really care at all. I care about the Rockets and he's at the helm. So I cheer that he makes good decisions for this team.

All this personalized butt hurt crap is pretty short-sighted. It almost sounds like every one of you Tilman haters has been fired by the guy without your last paycheck. If that's what he did to you, I'm truly sorry. That sucks. If he didn't do something to you personally, you're putting yourself and your entitled opinions ahead of the team's success.

Half the people on here lately come off as caring more about themselves than the team. F- that. This place is for Rockets fans. Gripe if you want to about the team's outlook in reality, but the blind hate crap is relentless around here and it's stupefying.

"I hope Tilman starts killing it. That means my team will be winning."

That's what you said. I'm just pointing out that that correlation may not be there. Himself doing well may not translate to the team doing weil if he's not willing to spend on the team, which seems to have been the case so far.

The way I look at it is this:

Tilman knew he got close. Oh so close in 2018, but it wasn't a chip. He's playing for the championship, not to get close. I like that. He was willing to gamble short term on Westbrook before Harden got up in age because time was running out and CP3 wasn't working in 2019. I'm sure he was also feeling out how his players felt about going for it again. We gave up nearly all our assets to improve by gambling. Gambling on trying to win the big one last year with a injured Golden State. That's what I wanted. A shot at the big trophy at the end of the year. That's what Tilman appears to be playing for too.

So we could try again without having anyway to improve the roster drastically or we could start over again with different players. Westbrook and Harden made that decision for us. It was time to start over. Tilman didn't fire either guy, they left us. Tilman still wants to win it all. What's the most likely path? Rebuild with draft picks. What are we doing? That. We didn't trade for the wheel of mediocrity, we traded for yet another gamble: the future.

I don't like Tilman's personality. I mean anyone who writes a book and it says "shut up and listen" on the cover? Douche. Total douche. But him being a douche doesn't change that he's gambling for a championship. It doesn't change that he's still at the helm and all the people we talk about constantly on here (Harden/Morey/Westbrook/Capela/MDA/etc/etc/etc) are gone. Everyone is gone. Tilman isn't though. He's still a Rocket. So when practically everyone on here drags the only guy helping us try to get to the summit of the mountain, through the mud... sounds petty and purposeless.

I hope it makes y'all feel better and we can get back to the business of winning and hoping for greatness.

If the measurement for success is a championship and only a championship, those guys we miss... failed. And quit. A lot of them quit on us and I'm glad they did because they didn't do their share to lift Harden up over the hurdles when he needed help and Harden didn't carry them over the hurdles either.

We had a great year, but we were running out of time when Tilman took over. Injuries derailed us, not the owner. Asset management made sure we weren't coming back. That's on Morey. And that started long before Tilman walked through the door. Our one successful youth project in 14 years? Clint Capela. The trade king failed. Maybe there was some bad luck mixed in, I believe there was, but rebuilding is closer to being a sure thing than whatever the heck we're calling the Morey years. "Mortgage the Future, Never Develop"?

Unless it's Yao Ming buying the Rockets, the moment that happens is the moment the Rockets stop being the Rockets. The team doesn't need a good relationship with China to be a contender. And having a wealthy foreign owner would be a shitty idea (just look at Prokhorov).

I want Tilman to do great, because that means the team will do great. We don't have to like the dude. If just shuts up and listens to those with more basketball knowledge than himself, he can be a fine owner. Right now he's talking too damn much.
