Wait till they start vetting Mr. Carson. All those dumb statements and positions will comeback to haunt him.

Without scrutinizing the article, I'll just assume he subconsciously co-opted some stories or imagery from his neighborhood or peer group. He probably thought classmates perceived him as violent or low class all through undergrad and med-school, or feared returning to that life as a possible outcome of failing academically, so without actually having experienced real trauma he probably agonized about it just as much as anyone who had.

    Poor Ben.

Candidate suggested pharaohs' tombs were actually grain storage

Back in 1998 Ben Carson gave a talk at Andrews University in which he suggested that archaeologists are wrong about the pyramids in Egypt. He suggested that the imposing structures aren’t the tombs of the pharaoh’s, but rather some really big, really elaborate grain silos. In case this was just a passing fancy, reporters asked him Wednesday if he still thought that. “It’s still my belief, yes,” Carson told CBS news.

This could be the result of some of the nutty Seventh Day Adventists' doctrine? Or perhaps, Carson was too busy learning medicine and surgery to develop other intellectual skills like the ability to critically read and evaluate sources of information. There is a reason why they are looking for more well rounded types to accept to Med School.

So this brings up a couple of questions.

Carson made up facts/didn't know facts/lied (I don't know which is the truth, but one of those is) regarding his claim about the people who signed the Declaration of Independence. It says something about him, that he was so ignorant and made the comment anyway.

But the more troubling/puzzling thing is that GOP voters don't seem to care.

Is it really a badge of honor to know nothing about the people who founded this nation? Does it not matter that Carson who was wrong about OBL and Saudi Arabia, was wrong about this, and seems clueless about some basic political knowledge that any leader might benefit from knowing and he's in the lead...

What does that say about GOP primary voters?

Bless Carson. He is a nice Sunday School Surgeon guy with a sincere belief in the Bible. I wish someone would ask him if he believes that the Constitution should be the supreme law of the land and not a literal or Seventh Day Adventist version of the Bible.

Ben Carson is going after "secular progressives" in response to mocking by Donald Trump and others of his theory that the ancient Egyptian pyramids were meant to store grain instead of serve as tombs for the pharaohs.

"Some people believe in the Bible, like I do, and don't find that to be silly at all," the Republican presidential candidate told reporters in Miami on Thursday, according to a report by Talking Points Memo.

"The secular progressives try to ridicule it anytime it comes up, and they're welcome to do that," Carson added about his remarks in a video highlighted by a Buzzfeed.

When our president goes toe-to-toe with the terrorists, do you want a leader who's gonna stab them in the belt buckle?

It isn't that no one knows what he believes. It's that his beliefs are so bizarre that most people can't believe they're for real.

Every four years the Republican party manages to find a way to out-caricature itself from the last election. Sarah Palin. 47 percent. And now Carson. Wonder what they'll come up with in 2020.

As a secular progressive liberal democratic socialist I support Ben Carson as the GOP candidate for president.

America is inherently violent for people of colour, and particularly for black men
