That's what The Associated Press has learned. Beltran, the biggest prize on the trade market, was informed of the deal by Royals general manager Allard Baird. That's according to a person close to Beltran who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The deal is believed to be a three-way trade that also includes the Oakland Athletics, possibly involving reliever Octavio Dotel. The source says Baird did not give Beltran the details of others in the deal.
