still got Taveres and Burke. I can live with it.

Just looking back on the past week or so. Astros getting Beltran, rockets getting McGrady, unbelievable. Great week to be a houston sports fan

You are the biggest "name" guy I've ever met. Tell me exactly what you know about John Buck, other than he has been mentioned as a top prospect. Do you know Hector Giminez? Read baytownson's post above. Doesn't sound like losing Buck is gonna hurt at all.

The Astros have another bad ass catcher coming up in AA so Buck was expendable.

Thank God Dotel wasn't traded for a white guy. They would have been crusified on the talk shows.

This is an awesome trade. This will give us the offensive punch we've been lacking. Great job Gerry, and Drayton.

Haven't we been waiting for Buck to take over as catch for 2 years now??

Hasn't he been at AAA for, going on 3 years???

If he was truly a stud, he would have been here by now.

Dotel and Buck are a small price to pay to get a player in here that could put us over the top ..........this year is our last chance.

The best part is, we traded a white guy to get Beltran, and Beltran will be taking a white guy's job in the starting lineup.

    Triple whammy for Gerry!!!

The trade of Dotel leaves Lidge as the Astros' closer -- for now. Asked if Houston might bring in a veteran relief ace, general manager Gerry Hunsicker cracked a smile and said: "We'll see what tomorrow brings."

    hmmmm....

Morgan Ensberg for a reliever anyone?

I sure as hell hope not, Morgan is our 3B of the future.

Hopefully its Lamb for a reliever

Unless the Astros trade Ensberg for Gagne I can't see anyone else replacing Lidge as the closer. Lidge is dominating right now.

Holy crap! My source was right! He said it was going to be done soon, but he thought tomorrow instead of tonight (hence my "Annie" post)! He's 2 for 2 today! (Including Clemens, he's 3 for 3).

Can I get "BBS Insider" cred now? (Worship me, puny peons! Dote on my every post!) :D

I'd say there's .00000000001 chance. Drayton is cheap, #1.... #2, the Astros plan on winning just this season, otherwise they wouldn't have done the trade, we compromised our future with this trade. I really like Beltran, but I don't like this trade.

The Astros have had enough trouble this year closing games out when it was Miceli - Lidge - Dotel....now what??? Lidge - Miceli - then a bunch of marginal guys.

Oh I know, and I'm pumped. Once we signed Clemens, I knew we'd have a GREAT season. Hope everyone's prepared for a few years of suckiness after this season, though.

    Drayton is cheap???

You do know that Beltran isn't exactly making chump change this year ($9 mil I believe).

Drayton will never, ever be a good owner in some fans minds, no matter what he does.

    Behad,

As I have been following RR Express games for a few years, I know a lot about Buck.

I watched him play and was hopeful that he would be replacing Ausmus this year.

Buck is a good catcher, and there is a reason he is being brought up to the majors INSTANTLY...he is ready.

I wanted more power from the Catcher position...the 2 traditional power positions on the Stros are weak...Catcher and 3rd base....neither have any power...and Buck has it.

I agree with Baytownson, and would bet that I have been to a RR game with him and his 2 boys.

    :)

Its been two years since Buck played for RR and he only played there 1 year.

So in that 1 year, and your handful of games, you were able to deem him a can't miss prospect with power???

Even though Buck only hit 12 HRs in 120 games that year??
