True. Boki will be a good player but needs the time to play. Look for the Rox to pass on matching the Memphis deal and look to Boki and Rice to fill the void at SF.
All I can do is be positive and thinnk good thoughts about Boki's play in the coming year. (and keep my fingers crossed, and pray, and wish and .....)
here is a crazy idea SUPPORT EVERYONE ON THE TEAM LIKE YOU SUPPORT YAO! Rocket River . . . . it is a team sport .. .right
Hmmm. I'll bite on giving Nachbar a chance at the 3 along with Rice, but this team could still use an upgrade at the 4 -- someone like Wallace or Grant would be nice. The 4 in the west is just too important of a position...
I'd rather believe in freakin SANTA CLAUS or the EASTER BUNNY! Geez! Some people REALLY enjoy seeing the world through rose colored glasses! Now that we are losing Posey, suddenly he isn't thaaaat good, and Boki, who has a world of trouble against summer league scrubs is supposed to be our savior? Posey is actually far better than we saw last season. The man was among the leaders in triple doubles back in Denver. The system we had back then screwed the SF's by freezing them out and asking them only to be stand still shooters. It's a pity we won't get to see what Posey could accomplish under JVG. Just don't ask me to place my faith on Boki at this point! Not as a starter! And not splitting time with the senile legs of Rice!
Here's an amen. What has he shown in the Summer League so far that would lead anyone to place their faith in Boki and Rice at the 3 spot this season? And I'm one of those who thought he'd be a big contibuter by the end of last season. This is a repeat, but you could drive a (what did someone use?? this thing? I used a bus, lol) Hummer through the hole we have at SF if we lose Posey.
I refer to Steve Francis as: Steve Francis, SF, Steve, Francis, Franchise, and occasionally a four letter word. So I don't see anything wrong when writing about Yao Ming, to call him any combination of names. If it was a meeting with the man, that would be different.
Maybe this has been beaten to death, but why didn't we re-up Terrence Morris? I thought he had the potential of a lottery pick and we gave up a first rounder to get him. I was looking forward to the time where the Rox gave him substantial minutes so we could all see what he could do but that never really happened. It just seems to me, that if we lose Posey this offseason, we would still be in good shape at the 3 with Rice, Morris still here, and Nachbar. Now, all of the sudden, it seems as if we are super-thin at the small forward spot. I mean, I have serious doubts that Rice can go an entire season injury-free, and Nachbar, although possessing great potential is just not ready to log starters minutes. So who do we have behind him? Anyways, about Nachbar...don't dismiss him so soon. He has amazing potential, and it's not always easy for a Euro to jump right into it. But he's still young and he's basically a rookie all over again considering the minutes he logged last season (or lack-there-of), and the fact that he has to learn a new system from scratch again. So, seeing that there is a large possibility that Posey is out, it becomes inevitable that Boki is at least our 2nd team small forward, so learn to live with it...it might not be so bad. And with Rice's injury problems, I think we'll see a lot of him this season. So let's see what he can do on the court with Francis, Yao, and Mobley taking most of the pressure away from him before the jury deliberates. In the summer leagues, teams know he's the number one talent on our team, so I'm sure he's seeing more pressure than he's ready for at this time in his career, but like I said, give him time on the court with the rest of our talent and let's see what he's capable of.
I remembered Yao mentioned that Boki is pretty good forward, so Yao probably know more than us. I say give him a chance. I wondering if we still haven't given up on Griffin, why should we give up on Boki now?
Boki had one year, yes, but remember the circumstances. He was coming off of surgery (hernia, wasn't it?). I had hernia surgery at 19 and had a heck of a time recovering from it and I was a drug abuse counselor, not a professional athlete. He didn't get to work out in the summer leagues or preseason. He was listed as the 4th SF once he got off the IR. He was the focus of the offense in the summer league, guaranteeing that everyone would key on him, and yet he had 32 in the last game. Give the kid a chance. He will be able to fill in nicely since the defenses will be keying on Yao, Steve, Cat, and (I hope) EG.
A bunch of dumb and f00lish contributors on this thread except the initiator and of course moi (and possibly one or two others). You don't have to post something all the time morons (you know yourselves).
Didn't the kid score 32 points in the last game? No one is confusing Boki with the second coming but for a second year forward that has a good stroke and tons of potential, he sure seems to be undervalued around here. If the Rockets are even considering letting Posey go then either 1) have a trade planned or 2) like the JVG plan of playing Griffin at the 3 and have enough faith in Boki to get the job done as a rotation player. This is an organization that has pulled the trigger on trades for Drexler, Barkley, and Pippen. All of which were big moves at the time. I'm not so willing to write them off as "cheap" or "foolish" like so many on this board have. Perhaps they do have reason to have faith in Boki. Either way, they're in a much better position to know his potential than we are. We just haven't seen enough of him to judge. I'm much more concerned about our lack of an enforcer, rebounder, backup point guard, and consistent third scorer - none of which describes Posey or Boki at this point in their careers.
When a guy can't put up numbers comparable to Dan Langhi in the summer league, I don't have much faith. And as for his potential, I don't see it. I watched the first summer league game, and his alleged athletic ability was very underwelming.
