"You can't handle the truth." Great movie. JESSEP - You want answers? KAFFEE - I think I'm entitled to them. JESSEP - You want answers?! KAFFEE - I want the truth. JESSEP - You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You me there We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to. KAFFEE - Did you order the code red? JESSEP - I did the job you sent me to do. KAFFEE - Did you order the code red? JESSEP - You're ******* right I did.
absolutely. read up on the people who came here on the mayflower. as early as the early 1600s they were ensuring in their documents that they would take care of the poor. they had communitarian lives not capitalist. this revisionist history from the right is just flat our wrong. read the constitutions and covenants of the founding forefather's forefathers. our american political tradition has had the government taking care of the poor. and only the government can really do anything substantial about it. all the charities combined to get what a billion or two for new orleans? the fed govt so far has allocated over 60 bil. its stupid to think charities can help severe social issues.
I have to agree with that, GW is gonna have to answer some serious questions. (opens can of worms)... Goodnight
Luke 14:31-32 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. Mark 13:6-8 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 7And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. 8For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. Jesus discussing war.
So you can't do that whole turn-the-other-cheek thing? If so, you should not mind being called out for cherry picking the Gospels (a time honored Christian tradition).
