If the rooks are that fragile, they will never have NBA careers anyway. It's better to find out what they are like early.

Let us play the rookies regularly, I say. Not necessarily in many minutes, but some in every game. Not only does this make them feel a part of the team and maintain their morale, but it also exposes them to a greater variety of opponents. They will develop faster.

With one caveat: the kids have to show me that they are fast learners. A knucklehead like Stro can stay on the bench all year, as far as I'm concerned. But fast learners like VSpan and Novak will benefit from regular action, just as Sam Cassell did.

I don't care if we suffer a bit from predictable rookie fumbles. I am willing to make the investment.

I have no idea why he doesn't take a chance for Novak, especially when leading 20+p .

Why are you guys complaining. We're 5 and 2. Lol. 5 wins is going somewhere to me. If we can win, then what's the problem. And v-span will play when he stops commiting turnovers; None of us can deny the fact that he is turnover proned.

Some of you guys would prefer a more exciting offensive scheme like the Mavericks. I guess that would be better considering all the championships they won.

I understand where you are coming from, but every minute matters right now. Unless we get on some dominant run, rookies just aren't going to get regular minutes. We need to get a lot of wins to be in the Championship hunt. Having an easier round one match can be all the difference in the world. Houston seems to think that its easy to be 6th seed and win a championship because we've already done it. We were the lowest seed to ever do it. So, if we want to win later, winning now is pretty damn important. History seems to be good evidence. Rookies are spark plugs, not big pieces. Gundy is doing a pretty good job right now. Let's see how he reacts to the two week loss of Hayes. A good coach makes good adjustments.

He could be dumber. He could be Larry Brown and bench players with up to 3 years experience. Instead, he is playing Kirk Snyder, Head, and Hayes.

He could be like Phil Jackson and send both his rookies to the NBDL.

Who are those guys with the rings on their fingers anyway?

I think once JVG gets a set rotation, and a good feel for his main players, he will slip the others in once in a while to get them some time.

JVG HAS to win THIS year......it is the last year of his contract.

I just noticed the first guy who posted this thread did it on November 1st. That's 2 weeks ago. I don't understand why people are still posting on here. I'm doing it now because I'm actually clueless why there is this debate. It really should be a non-issue by now. You have time to think of ways JVG sucks? Go volunteer and make your community a better place instead. Seriously.

Can we please lock this up and have the season go on? It really is ridiculous that "JVG sucks" is at the top of this board each day. Thank you.

    Go Rockets baby!

    A couple thoughts on this

    A. We are 5-2

    B. Someone mentioned earlier that these guys need to earn their minutes.
Spanoulis is still a Turnover machine and Novak still is mistake prone defensively and offensively. Novak may be able to score 6 or 8 points but how many is he going to give up beacuse of poor rebounding, defense or team defense?

My friend...welcome to the Clutch BBS. This is a Gundy haters PARADISE. 90% of the posters don't like him because he doesn't drink beer and smile after interviews. Plus, he is from the hated North. Get use to it.

Some of us support the coach and give him this last year to see what he can do. The ones that back him know this year is make or break. But like I said, most wanted him gone after game 1 in 2003. No objectivity. Just hatred.

Gundy is right up there with Karl Malone with the haters. Unreal, right?

And with idiots like me who get drawn into these types of threads, they live for months and months and months. If I only had the willpower of EDC to just post whenever its convinient.

I think the ball movement is there, it is just not yet prolific because of the addition of all the new guys,i.e. lack of chemistry & No one yet has been able to stop Yao one on one, and he is shooting 60%. I can think of no better offense. He is becoming the Wilt C of this generation, and as far as what I want to see, they can't feed it to him enough. If he can get 20+ shots up a night, make 12, and get to the free throw line 8 times each night, that equals roughly 30 per. With some JVG defense, and the new guys that can hit the open J, I think the Offense is fine. I thought we played pretty bad the 1st half in Miami, but Jeff's style and the Heat turnovers kept us in the game.

Turning back the clock for a moment, Olajuwon was perhaps the greatest 1 on 1 center of all time. We spent a lot of time during our championship seasons standing around the perimeter watching him go 1 on 1, and canning 3's on the kickout. Worked good then, works good now.....

I always find it funny that their are so many HATER threads on fan boards. JVG just playing to win, he plays who will win games. If you put the rookies in they can make a few mistakes that change the game completely and you lose the game ( for example let the other team go off through a dumb turnover ). Is that what yall want? Anyway dont worry about the rookies let them learn from practice and watch/study the games. At the end off the season they'll be more usefull. Let the core group play.
And by the way coaches that play their rookies alot are coaches that are on LOSING teams or teams that are rebuilding with young players ( well thats the same :) ).

JVG will bring us far into the playoffs and maybe a title this year

Do you have reason to believe he has corrected this problem in the last 2 weeks?

Do you have evidence that he didn't?
If you had watched his pre saison games, you would have noticed that most of his TO are tue to riskful passes and travelling. I believe that both problems can be handled relatively fast.
