Scola just competes hard.....he is like Biggio and Bagwell, he just plays the game the right way.

He is the best PF we have had since a healthy Barkley.

more importantly, the pressure on yao next yr is very low to carry us. we now have 2 formidable post presence in scola and artest. yao shouldn't put too much pressure on himself.

no chance he'll be an all-star. he has a slight chance if he was a 2nd option, but no chance as a 4th option. but a guy like scola is all about team. i think everybody on our team has had enough individual glory (either in the NBA or internationally) that a championship is all that matters.

Argentinas PG Gonzalez was pretty good... it was a good game, most competitive up until now.

It was available online. Manu went out in the first qrtr cuz he got heart. Scola pretty much carried the team.

wow. Scola 28pts, 11rb, 2st, 2blk and only 2 turnovers vs. team USA. Most impressive. I bet Spurs fan had no fun watching that game, Ginobli gets hurt and Scola goes off for 28.

a lot of posters on this board take a lot personally. personal attacks on athletes are already extremely immature b/c after all, it's freakin' sports. but personal attacks are just low.

Its the internet. It is pretty useless to fight. Internet fights are pretty much just little b**** fits for pre pubescent 12 year olds to prove who is tougher.

live coverage is shown on a special channel specifically for olympic basketball by NBC. it's not on the air channel.

however, the replay is shown on NBC.

    so NBC is stupid yes.

but the finals is 2:15 AM ET so the same thing will happen. sucks for those on the east coast.

Yea, he does play very hard. Melo tried to intimidate him but Scola I think played even better after that, that's heart and mettle.

He is going to be great for us!

Borrowing this post from an older thread:

While I agree that Scola isn't a top 10 PF or anywhere close, it sure is fun watching this non-explosive, under-sized, finesse finishing, fade-away finger-roller continue to school athletic, long, "risers" like Bosh over and over again.

Does he miss some easy layups from time to time? Sure. Is he the quickest guy on the court? Not even close. But he is smart. He is skilled. He is strong. And his heart is the size of Texas. He has never heard of the concept of "quit" and will fight to the end, even in the face of daunting odds and eminent defeat.

Although I agree with your description of his skill set, I don't necessarily agree with your conclusion. He is not elite or an all-star, but he is more than a "wide open guy" and "solid hustler". He will never be on the Rockets playing next to Tmac and Yao, but in a different situation I see nothing stopping him from becoming a star. To succeed in the NBA it is 50% talent and 50% mental. Scola may be middle of the pack talent-wise, but mentally he is in the top tenth percentile.

At times he is slow-footed and he definitely plays below the rim. All the same, I would go to war with a warrior like Scola than tall and athletic high risers who have no heart, no desire, and a bucket of rocks for brains. Is he top ten? No. Is it a stretch to call him part of a Big 4? IMO not at all. He is integral to the Rockets success.

Scola is invaluable because he doesn't need designed plays. He can generate his own offense by getting the boards and putbacks.
