Reporters sans frontieres is an international organization of journalists.

    http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=280

Given that the Chinese government regularly and publicly puts journalists in jail - such as Shi Tao,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shi_Tao

I don't know why you find them to be "fake". If I were a journalist, and a government were putting journalists in jail for doing their job, my feelings against that country would not be "fake" but instead be "real"

The original article didn't seem very clear, a blanket ban on blacks in bars, or ban on dealers in bars (as others seem to imply). If the first, then it's just plain idiocy, and what have the Mongolians ever done?

Apparently mongolian prostitutes (female) are notorious for frequenting that district.

i feel bad that he got jailed for it. but, he sure as hell knew the consequence of the release. everyone in china knows your online activity is NOT secure. and when the government says, don't release it, then you don't. if you do, don't use your yahoo mail. there are ways to do it without being found. sure it requires some research, but it can be done. i don't know why he even sent the brief to that organization at first place.

these organizations aren't helping much anyways. the evolution of the communist leadership is happening already. the generation gap is huge in china. people 10, 20 years younger than the current leadership have totally different mindset. i just hope people like me don't get in power. that would be ****ed up with all the nationalism going on. well, i can't even write a paper better than an elementary school kid. :D

That was because a lot of the drug dealers on Sanlitun Lu were black. If you know Beijing well, you would know that, just like you would know there would be a lot of middle aged women in Zhongguancun selling pirate software. Note that I am not saying blacks are drug dealers, but a lot of drug dealers are black. If you were a police officer and you knew that 80% of the drug dealers were black, would you keep an eye on suspicious blacks roaming the streets? TSA has been doing that against Arabs, does that make them racist?

lol, talking about the middle aged women selling pirate software. :D one time, my uncle told me that the cops took a bunch of them in a bus in an attempt to curb piracy. bus load. :D of course, they let them go later, and they'll go back to their stands again.

The more I read about the article, the more I hope that (miraclously) China will somehow manage to transform into a version of Hogn Kong on a country scale, banning tables in the streets to stop fighting? Preventing musicians playing on the streets? This just ridiculous.

And SCMP is a reputable source (I wrote a few opionins in it myself :D ), reports it like it is, only in English.

I think the Chinese policemen need to be whipped into better shape and actually enforce the law (and stop taking bribes, yes I'm 100% certain that bribery and corruption riddles the lower pat of the Chinese administration).

of course, most organizations with power have corrupted folks within. it's ****ed up though. they only punish those who take little money. those big ones, they just move them to a **** place and place a minor fine. unless you are like the biggest, then they'll take you down and make you an example.

I had watched a program about a group of men, 5 of them, who had been fired from their factory jobs, but were nver paid their final salary. Even though they lodged quite a few complaints, even after a year the government just ignored them. China needs to take care of its own people which would automatically improve their image, instead of building new malls about the Olympic stadium which are 50% empty.

There are a lot of ridiculous things happening right now in Beijing. A lot of substances are under control, including Helium... Some people are forced to take vacations during the next month, with minimum pay. The list goes on and on. But still, I really doubt something as ridiculous as this would happen.

If I have a wish list of things that should be better in China, police practice and corruption would be in my top 5.

Geesh, both sides need to calm down.

As a Chinese, I won't be surprised if this is true. There are plenty commie morons that know nothing outside of China running the show in China, so this could be true.

But you freedom fighters here stop looking at it through your racial glasses. It's not a race thing if this is true. And if it is true, I am not going to defend it either, because it's pretty fxxked up.

Because Chinese and China are presumed to be wrong and bad by the likes of you, so let's assume they are bad and wrong, even that, would they do it - announce a policy to ban blacks during Olympics in front of the whole world? If it's not likely, why it's credible to you without any other supporting reports on this new policy? Save your answers, everyone knows.

well, the real problem is there are too many people. everytime i go back, i can just feel how much pressure people are facing. people have to find ways to have a better life. it's just too competitive. some people will do whatever it takes.

The Chinese people are not as racial sensitive as your folks in America. The police will arrest people selling drugs on the street on matter what color they are.

That I absolutely agree - take good care of own people first, stop those special treatment to foreigners. Look at Singapore, do they complain about racism? Olympic in China is just wasting money and inviting for trouble. Why? If you take it too seriously and want it too bad, people just screw you over this. If you don't give a damn, will they try that hard to flip-flopping on coming or not coming?

ya, a lot people just assume. it's funny. there is this chinese band (VK). they dress like girls with makeups and play gothic kind of music. i was reading stuff on youtube and people are like. "the government banned them, bad commies! no rock, no freedom!" and they start talking crap.

funny, i was in china last month. i was in shanghai shopping. guess what, i saw their freaking albums in one of the biggest stores there. and it's their new album too.

then people are like, oh, they just banned them from performing.

guess what, there is a freaking VCD with multiple recent concert footage of them playing in various cities in china. still dressed like girls with makeup and bad influence for the youth.

people will just believe whatever someone else say, if it's something bad about china. it's like a fashion now.
