I have never said that picture is race related. I just find that picture to be very biased and it has no place in a great website like this one. I am sorry if you don't agree.

I know. Maybe I just held MadMax to a higher standard (because of his previous posts and what he had said in the past) and found it disappointing that he has posed a joke biased like that. I might not have said a word if it was some other posters who did that. I know it is probably not fair to him to be held to a higher standard than the other posters.

Here's another article that I find quite disturbing:

Africans in Beijing harassed as Olympics approach
Police forcing bar owners to pledge not to admit blacks, Hong Kong paper reports
    GEOFFREY YORK

    July 19, 2008

BEIJING -- Chinese police officials have forced some Beijing bar owners to sign secret pledges promising to prohibit blacks from entering their bars during the Olympics next month, a Hong Kong newspaper says.

The police denied the report yesterday, and most bars denied any knowledge of the pledges. But many African residents of Beijing say they are facing harassment from police and discrimination from bars as the Olympics approach.

"Bar owners near the Workers Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises," the South China Morning Post reported yesterday.

It quoted the co-owner of a bar who said that a group of police had recently visited his establishment to order it "not to serve black people or Mongolians."
In the famed Sanlitun bar district of Beijing, some bar owners have been required to sign pledges agreeing to ban a variety of activities, including dancing and serving black customers, the newspaper said.

Africans and Mongolians are often perceived as criminals in Beijing. Until this year, a number of young African men were openly selling drugs in the Sanlitun district, and many Mongolian women were working as prostitutes in the city.

Both groups are among the targets of China's security crackdown in the lead-up to the Olympics, along with thousands of Tibetans, Uyghurs, migrant workers, petitioners and social activists who are seen as potential troublemakers or protesters.

In a notorious incident last September, dozens of black people were detained by police in a raid on bars in the Sanlitun district.

Witnesses said the police rounded up all the black people they could find, up to three dozen in total, and beat some of them with rubber truncheons.

Grenada's ambassador to China filed a complaint to the Foreign Ministry, saying that his son suffered a concussion and needed hospital treatment after he was clubbed on the head by police during the raid.

Africans have been coming to Beijing for decades as university students or traders. But many were forced to leave China this year because of new visa restrictions that made it difficult to renew their paperwork.

In interviews yesterday, a number of Africans said they are facing discriminatory rules from Beijing's bars and nightclubs as the Olympics approach.

A woman from Liberia, who is co-owner of a hair salon in Beijing, said she was outraged when she visited a popular Beijing nightclub and found that the entrance fee for black people was twice as high as for other foreigners.

Even if they managed to enter the club, the black patrons were prohibited from sitting at the tables, she said.

In another incident, she said, an African-owned bar was raided this week by police with dogs, and the customers were required to provide urine samples for drug tests.

"When the police come, you have to run," she said. "I've lived in Holland and the United States and it was never like this. There's no human rights here. It's racist and it makes me feel very bad."

If the police are now ordering bars to prohibit black people from entering, it is highly unfair, she said. "Every race has good people and bad people. You can't blame all blacks for drugs. If a person is not causing a problem, you shouldn't bother them."

Two Nigerian businessmen said they were required to show their passports before being allowed to enter a Beijing nightclub last weekend. Black people who could not produce their passports were barred from entering the club, but other foreigners were not required to show their passports, they said.

"This had never happened before to me," one of the Nigerians said. "I was very angry. This is racism."

The Africans spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing more harassment from the police if they are identified. The Nigerians, interviewed at a bar, asked that the bar not be identified because they were worried that it could be raided if the police learned that Africans congregate there.

Why did you post something that just summarized what we have read in the last two days? Show us something new please. Yes, nothing is new here. If you are too slow and still do not know, Tom Miller wrote two articles about this fake story. The article that you found here just summarized what he said in both of the articles. Are you able to see the similarity? All the sources are anonymous and of course he would use the excuse of the concern about harassment. I agree it's a very convenient excuse and I don't blame him for using it. Know what? I have also interviewed many Africans in China who said this story is complete BS. No, I don't have their names because they want to be anonymous.

Oh, I forgot to say. Sweet Lou 4 2, please stop wasting the bandwidth of this website with old materials. You really need to work harder to find us something new, even if that means you have to stay up all night tonight. I know you can do it.

    That is incredibly, remarkably ignorant.

Why? Because there is some sort of racial profiling that you can smell in their drug dealer busting operation? Maybe it's time for you to wake up. Let me surprise you by telling you this: racial profiling happens everywhere in every part of the world.

I think you are missing the point of the joke. There are people who think the worst of the PRC government but the idea of the joke is to show how ludicrous some of those beliefs as it is ridiculous to believe that the PRC would actually cut the arms off children for not cheering for the Olympics. I brought up the New Yorker cover which meant to show how ludicrous the beliefs of some critics are Obama by showing the ridiculous extreme some of those beliefs are.

Its not a biased cartoon but one making fun of bias.

Yet the source for the original story was one bar owner so you are taking the word of one bar owner over three. As far as monitoring that is far from barring.
Again though we still have yet to see how many others were arrested and what was the evidence against them. As I stated the facts are there was a raid and many people were dark skin were arrested and beaten, beyond that we don't know if that say 10% of the people arrested and beaten were black or was it 75%. As far as blacks being targetted without more evidence we don't know if this purely racism. For instance an LAPD raid in Watts will likely pickup mostly African-Americans. Does that mean that the raid was motivated by racism? A lot of this is conjecture with limited facts.
You are basically saying that in an absence of further evidence your own opinion regarding the PRC is evidence to support your interpretation. Since the PRC is a controlled media environment therefore my opinion of the worst is justified since they aren't telling me something different. At the same time you've also stated if they tell you something different you won't believe them since they are a controlled media. This is called "bias" as your preconcieved notion is driving the opinion rather than considering the availability of facts.

Now you might be right since there is a lot we don't know but that is at the moment still speculation that can't be completely supported on what is known.
But here you are engaging in a bit of racist generalizing of your own by stating that you know of racism in other countries in Asia so by extention most of Asia is racist. I don't deny that there is racism in bigotry in Asia but you can't project from one country to another without understanding the context. In Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia there is a history of racism towards Chinese, following your logic then there should be racism towards Chinese in China.
But there is a huge difference though in regard to whether it is bar owners acting on their own or it is by the authorities. You can't hold the PRC responsible for the actions of a couple of bar owners.
