"I think if there is no Harden trade today, our chances to get him significantly increase" "I guess it depends on what the expectation is from Ben in the next 5 years. The whole point of this game is to win a championship and it is undoubtedly easier to win at least one with Harden playing next to Embiid. That is one of the best guard/center duos since Kobe and Shaq" "I'm leaning towards doing it, but it would depend greatly on the terms of the deal" "If we give up Ben, I would not feel obliged to give up more than one 1rp. I'd also want Houston to take on Tobias/Al + Jrich in exchange for maybe Gordon/Tucker and Cov. I just do not see Brooklyn or Miami going near what Ben would bring Houston" "I actually think Ben + Tobias/Al makes the most sense for Houston, as they cannot bottom out due to OKC owning their picks. They'd be playoff bound with something like Ben/Gordon/Tobias/Tucker/Al" "The opportunity to capitalize on 3-4 more years of Embiid dominating is too much to pass up. Harden + Embiid, in my opinion, has all time duo potential" "This whole Harden/Biid thing is overblown. All they would be able to do is outscore everybody else" "Will Harden come here and play winning basketball or just stat padding basketball? Gigantic difference in between the 2" "Harden is essentially the Lamar Jackson of the nba. Everything looks great and the stats pile up, but when it comes to playing big boy ball in the playoffs things fade quickly" "Now obviously Ben is FAR from proving himself in the playoffs, but at least we know he’ll play D and not chuck shots that hurt the team and give the guys around him a shot"
I think we are gonna try to bottom out minus Westbrook (or Wall if that trade happens). We will have some often injured guard on our roster playing hero ball mentoring young guys as we become a lottery team hoping to luck into a top 4 pick so we can keep our first. Wall obviously helps us with this goal much easier since he won’t play much next year.
It's a fan thing. I saw one Net fan that said Lavert was a non-starter and we couldn't it....b****, Lavert is a necessary throw in. Sorry. That's the only thing of value we can even get from BKN.
So basically casual fans that don’t actually know what they’re talking about? The Harden doesn’t play defense or doesn’t perform in the playoffs is just tired and wrong.
They don't seem too unreasonable except for the picks. They are right in that it would suit us to take on JRich and one of Horford or Harris - but we are also doing them a favour in that scenario. I would swap Harden/ Gordon/ Tucker For Simmons/ Richardson/ Horford plus two or three 1sts.
Ive been critical of fans who would rather see the Rockets burn to spite Tilman, But I'm very okay with Tilman not trading with Morey even though Morey could give him the best haul for Harden.
Yeah, take Horford in that scenario, would make way more sense, big contract but expiring in two years (third mostly unguaranted), if you give them Gordon that's fine, Gordon makes like 6/7M less per season but for one more year so, that could be good for Tilman and for the Sixers since Horford won't play much behind Embiid and they actually need more guards/scoring off the bench (Gordon). Just do not take Harris, that contract is the new Wiggins contract.
u should see what Celtics fans have been saying on RealGM and all forms of social media all the same ignorant cliches...1 dude on RealGM even talking about how he’d stop watching the Celtics play bullsh*t about how Harden is everything wrong with basketball, he’s Kyrie 2.0, he’d make Tatum demand a trade, etc idiots would be all over his nuts and his biggest fan when he takes them to the finals...
I have mixed feelings about it. It bothers me a bit that Morey seems to have orchestrated the whole thing in advance, leaving the Rockets, phony reason for leaving (family), then going after Harden knowing he would have among the better offers once in Philly. On the other hand, making the Rocket fans suffer a worse deal, and essentially a worse team for merely Tilman personal reasons is BS.
With all due respect Doc, that is an atrocious deal for us. Harden's true value by himself is likely Simmons + 3 good lottery picks..say in the 3- 12 range.. ..somewhere in there... Taking Harris & Horford's bad contracts make it exponentially worse. Then on top of all that, handing over PJ & EG? You have GOT to be kidding.
