To me, if Harden is gone, the only value cap space will have next year is to rent it out for FRPs. There is not going to be a quality inbound FA coming here. You rent it out like Memphis did and gather assets for down the road.
I agree with you, how many first round picks can that turn into? Also how much does the financial savings matter to Tilman?
It is really insane how misinformed people are about James Harden and his game he is one of the least selfish stars in the NBA. The guy would’ve averaged over tennis is a game for the last for five years if he had teammates who can actually hit open shots reliably. But then again most rockets fans are completely wrong when it comes to harden anyway so it’s not surprising that the casual NBA fan is as well.
I really hope Stone is laughing and hanging up at every trade that Miami offers that doesn't include Butler.
Ok crazy Heat fan. I’ll make this simple. Would you have traded Wade+ package for rookie Harden? Of course not. How about for third year Harden when he was available for trade? Ignore the fact the Heat just won the ring lol. Would that he been equal or close to equal value? No. that’s what you’re suggesting here.
That is why they choked a 3-2 WCF lead. I mean you would have a point if they won the Western Conference, but they didn't so they weren't a championship level team.
Why do people always double down on stupidity like you’re doing right now? If u win 65 games with a +8.5 point differential and take 1 of the most stacked teams ever to a game 7, u are a championship level team. Period, end of story. we lost a 3-2 lead because we were going up against a team with 2 MVPs/4 All-Stars with our 2nd best player out with a hamstring injury save the dumb casual fan talking points for Twitter or the Youtube comments section
The 2018 Rockets were most certainly a championship level team, but CP3 struck me more as the team's leader than Harden.
Circles back to media conspiracy. It's not tinfoil hats. If you're on the Rockets, nobody cares about you unless you want to leave. As you say, Harden has like a bunch of lazy 40s in reg season, mostly because we had garbage players out on the court. I think Harden would easily give up the scoring title for a real chance at the chip. The team never put together a roster good enough to do it, and people just assume it's because Harden is selfish. They never ask who Gary Clark is and why he's a ****ing starter for the Rockets.
yes MPJ. back issues are there but high risk high reward. if I'm trading James Harden I need the potential of #1 guy on a championship team. if he's a bust so be it. but trading James for a #3 guy on a championship team like Simmons, or Herro (at best), isn't as appealing. they have higher floors but that will just win you meaningless games.
yes MPJ! I think if we trade James we shouldn't be afraid (we should expect) to hit the floor. if MPJ is a bust, we live with it. but if he hits, we have a #1 guy. if we play it safe with Simmons we are a 30-40 win team, and he'll never be the #1 guy on a championship team. maybe not even #2. you can't be lead by a guy that the defense can ignore! however I like the sixers picks from 2023-2027 since harden and likely Embiid will be pretty bad or off the team by then.
I agree that Duncan Robinson is in the same mold of a McLemore and Green (though I think Green has improved his defense over the years and has occasional that drive-to-the-basket explosion). That said, I think Robinson statistically had the best or second best catch-and-shoot 3pt percentage of all time. That's pretty special.
