So, describe the problem, and explain how it can be fixed, O Wise one. Of course we're going to have problems when over half of our payroll is going to an injured guy and a lazy bum. That simple, though the Rockets definitely look tired and are having problems with focus.
Rockets clearly need t-mac, they look lost in the half-court when teams lock up defensively, would help to have his playmaking especially since brooks is not a true pg more like a sg but Adelmans a Hall a fame coach so he knows what he doing. We should also consider bringing Mutumbo out of retirement asap, Rockets have no defensive presence at the rim it seems every post playing big have career nights on us.
That would probably be the best solution in the short term. In the long term, and the Rockets are definitely thinking long-term, it is a terrible idea, as even the most die-hard Tracy fan should know that Tracy McGrady will not be a Rocket at the beginning of the 2010 season. Therefore, we need to think long-term and not rely on the crutch of T-Mac, and throw our young guys in the fire and have them figure it out. Sink or swim. If they sink, well, what do we lose precisely?
Team looks like it's falling back to earth. Hope Adelman keeps spirits up and last till we get some more offensive firepower.
If T-Mac can still play (we dont know this and wont untill next year when it will be too late) and already said money is not that a big deal for him to stay in Houston then why would it be a short term solution. Heck he is still better then Ariza and everyone friggin knows it.... Worst case is we get nobody and that wont happen but lets just say we get nobody next season.... Starters would be Brooks, T-Mac, Battier, Landry and Yao.... To me that is a legit starting lineup and a good bench with guys like Ariza, Lowry, Scola, Hayes and Chase coming off the bench.... The T-Mac issue extends further than helping the team win as Adelman and Morey say....
And then at some point, we're going to win 6 of last 7 games, and then everyone will have knee-jerk #1 seed in the Western Conference crap. In the end, it all tends to balance out, so everyone just needs to relax.
I completely disagree on Ariza, and frankly think that people's feelings towards are completely instinctual to blame him even when he doesn't blame him, just as they have been inclined to be highly lenient towards Budinger (who played extremely well on the offensive end, but quite poorly on defense.) He is definitely at this superior to Tracy in most attributes. Using Tracy at this point is a short-term strategy because he won't be around next year and we need to prepare for it.
there will defintely be a trade comming if the entire team is playing this inconsistently. please just get rid of ariza.
I've always thought this was a .500 team, it just took the rest of the league a little longer to catch on. Playing balls out every night might work in a short 7 game playoff series, but its not going to work out over a long 82 game season. It isn't all too hard to gameplan against a team that doesn't have that much talent.
We need a change now ... a new player that can demand double teams, an all-star level player! Without Yao this season, Bosh is the answer this season and for years to come (with Yao)! We need a trade that shakes up the Rockets, the West ... the NBA!
I dont blame anything on Ariza, I am not an Ariza hater but there is no way that Ariza is better than Mcgrady... In fact, I think Ariza would be great coming off the bench for T-Mac.. What I was saying was T-Mac does not have to be a short term strategy, he was willing to comeback for less money but thats over with. Adelman and Morey want to ship him out, is this really helping the team win as they say it is?. Maybe they had a plan yes but so far its not working because teams are not biting (YET).... So we get exited over Iggy, Martin, Butler? and then go crazy over Bosh..... Yes I rather have iggy playing then T-Mac not but I much rather have Brooks, T-Mac, Battier, Landry and Yao then any of the names being thrown around..... This would also cost less..... I am just stating that T-Mac did not have to be a short term deal and could have been added to the lineup, was it T-Mac not adjusting to the system of Adelman? or is it Adelman not wanting to tweak his system one bit..... Hey, dont get me wrong... I want T-Mac out asap so we can see who comes in and what happens but lets not lie to ourselves saying Ariza is better or even at the same level of T-Mac(yes the T-Mac of now, otherwise this comparison would be a joke)...
Why is it so hard for Rockets fans to realize that the "superstar" trade for McGrady is impossible without gutting the team of its younger core? Those teams looking for cap space usually don't have anything we want or need, so teams that offer trades are probably asking for either Brooks or Landry as well as McGrady. Thus making it impossible for us to compete this year because, no team is doing much beyond handing out 'star' players and not the "superstars" fans think we can land. Any change that would benefit us into a playoff run will have to come from players on the roster playing better or a low level trade that brings in a young player that, like Lowry last year, will play well and surprise folk because they never got minutes in their previous team. No blockbuster McGrady move will get it done, unless a team has given up on their own playoff hopes and in both conferences there is plenty of games left for teams to secure a spot, except for New Jersey and Minnesota.
How about lets start playing some better Defense. Down low they might own us some nights but lets stop all the penetration all the way to the rim for layups.
