No discussion on beer would be complete without The Beer Song You can check out the lyrics on my bands Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/mnserfs We'll get around to recording it and posting it sooner or later.
My fave - Aventinus http://www.schneider-weisse.de/inde...ventinus&sid=19662760185073039423721561515691 my favorite every day brew - Fat Tire My favorite of the lower class - Lone Star I used to like the Live Oak Pilz alot but I can only get it in Austin and it isn't as consistent as it once was.
Strongly disagree. Dogfish Head is great, very good and consistent beer, but I think the Three Floyd's brewery outside Chicago and Victory brewing from Pennsylvania are both better. FFF's Dreadnaught Imperial IPA is simply ridiculously good, while Victory's Hop Devil IPA and Storm King Imperial Stout are also wonderful. FFF's Alpha King Pale Ale might be the best pale available in the country. I will completely agree with you regard Chimay though. My biggest failing as a beer nerd and brewer is a distaste for Belgian's, but even so I think Chimay sucks.
Sishir, you're in Minneapolis, right? One of the better brewpubs I've been to is in your town, if I remember your location correctly. The Townhall Brewery there is very tasty and always has a good cask conditioned ale.
I've heard of that brewery, but I've never seen any of their stuff in the store...I'll have to look out for it or ask my "dealer" to find some. I'm not a big stout guy, I much prefer the malty stuff..and of course IPAs. Stouts just aren't fun to drink--you have to battle them just to gulp 'em down. There are so many great Belgian beers (aside from Chimay, which is garbage). Do everything you can to find Trappistes Rochefort 10.
Holy crap- is that the one at 710 Franklin with all the taps on the wall? Damn, I miss that place. I remember they used to have this place next to there called Power Tools- they had that hallway with the slanted floor and the part that overlooked the Bayou with the Hare Krishan group (well, they were there one of the nights I went there). Ah, memories.
Barf. I highly disagree. I tend to feel that the body and flavour of Warfenheizen Garhenbaueriskawif is better than Straub and Iron City combined. Oh yes sir, I did just go there.
Some of my standard favorites: Sam Smith's Taddy Porter Leffe (I was mad when The Ginger Man stopped having this on draught - something about TABC restrictions) Maudite Guinness Kilkenny
Anchor Liberty Ale Full Moon Pale Rye Ale Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale Big Daddy IPA Stone IPA Schlitz Lager (not the Bull) Schaeffer Sierra Nevada Porter Bitburger Pilsner Urquell Warsteiner Fireman's No. 4 Ale Live Oak Pilz Czechvar Duvel Leffe Blond Chimay (Blue Label) Fin du Monde Old Style Anchor Steam Beer Austin Pale Ale (R.I.P.)
I don't drink but when I used to I liked this Mexican beer that I can't quite remember the name of. I will try to find out.
yes, they have taps on the wall. renaissance festival-like/church pew-like (sp?) tables and chairs? nice place. cool juke box too with ok computer in it.
SMITHWICKS pronounced Smiticks I don't like hoppy or fruity beers and I haven't tasted every beer on the planet but I love this one. outside of that I think shiner bock is an excellent widely availible beer in texas. the places I drink at regularly don't jack up the price on it either.
Oh, I know. I was making fun of myself, not you guys. I've been to the Brewry Tap a few times and had some WONDERFUL ales. Unfortunaly, I was too hammered to remember what they were.
