Yeah... I'm certain there are 25 beers in Germany that outdo Sam Adams... easily.

I agree. I am willing to drink new beers and try something new, but don't tell me "it is the best!." That's YOUR opinion, sir.

My new favorite is Mirror Pond Pale Ale.

    Love it.

I just got back from Germany about a week ago. You are absolutely correct.

I've only had the Sam Adams and the Dogfish 90 minute IPA.

There are some on that list I'd like to try (that chocolate beer and the oatmeal stout at the end are really calling me), but I've definitely had beers that outclass both that I've tried.

This has been one of my favorite beers:

Brewed in Brugge, Belgium. Not big like Duvel, so I doubt I'll ever find it here in the states.

I've had all of them except for the hopworks one. Not the 25 best beers in the world but a lot of really good ones there, anyway it's a matter of taste. SOme of their picks are rather questionable - that Peak Organic pale ale is really not that great at all; the slyfox pils is ok but nothing special.

Not sure why they didn't throw in a traditional german wheat like Weihenstephaner or Schneider or Ayinger but if you want to have a representative sampling that's a real missing ingredient, as is the lack of a traditional english bitter.

Did anyone else notice that this is my first post in 11 years on Clutchfans? That should tell you something about how I feel about this list.

This list is obviously about bottled beers only, focusing on ones you can buy readily in the US. So I treat it maybe as a helpful list for those trying new things. Personally, I don't think a Stout or an English bitter should ever be bottled. So, I don't think either should be on this list. Sam Smith is not even top 50 in the world for Stouts if you count taps. but I'm a stout snob.

For a similar reason, I also would not rate any German bottled beer in the top 25 of German beers...reason being (not the tap technology as stout and bitters) but because every town has fabulous local beers that don't get distributed in bottles. You could spend a 2nd lifetime trying them all.

In the end though, after 6 months in German, I was getting tired of the lack of variety and missed American beers, stouts and English bitters.

    Pleasure. Prague-Dresden-Kiel

In Prague, the Pilsner is cheaper than the water. And of much higher quality.

    You have excellent taste.

I'm a fan of pale ales. I'm not a fan of the rest of their brews, but they hit perfection with that one. Fortunately it is picking up here in Austin and is available in some surprising places.

    Even the Carousel Lounge.

Still can't believe someone lurks for over 10 years and then posts to express his disbelief in a beer list. This means beer touches him more than Yao or T-Mac joining/retiring, all D&D discussions, other historical CF events.

He must be the head of one of the biggest beer brands in the world that got left out of this list.

No Label is available in stores today. This list should be updated soon.
