My limited knowledge of the Spanish situation is this: because of the way that TV in Spain is negotiated, Real and Barca have separate 10 year ppv deals (separate from the rest of La Liga). They have then borrowed money against predicted future earning from these deals. Not a particularly sound fiscal policy, as they will have very few funds available towards then end of these deals.
it'd be a crying shame if Real shipped off Figo in order to make room for Beckham..... at least in a football sense.
