Beating Rockets is easy now, as long as Rudy is the coach.

I think we did the dump it down low offense along time before the 95' season. That is a basic post up offense which can only be utilized with a dominant post player. That offense has been used for quite a while. Also with the Rockets 2 big guys both being out it is only natural they struggle. To me it seems like you need a post player to atleast set up an offense. You cannot penetrate and dish everytime. Defenseswill play off you and the other teams center will stay at home. No easy basket are allowed. If we follow your philosophy that we fire Rudy because they are not winning this year then I guess it is safe to assume that when the Spurs fired Bob Hill(I believe) and replaced him with Poppovich just because they had a bad season you were in favor of it. Remember they had a bad season because of no Robinso, we are having a bad season because of no Hakeem, Barkley.

    caveman,

did you see your picks Saturday? This team is running a five-man motion offense. The picks are all over the place now...and not just where the basketball is.

    Two things about motion offenses:
    1. They are difficult to implement right out of the gate. Rudy is getting them into now.

    2. They largely require the players on the court to think for themselves and recognize what the defense is doing. You don't look over to coach to call a play every time down the court...especially when you are trying to exploit a 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 before the defense fully sets. hence all the mistakes and Rudy's reluctance to change quickly.

ye are too quick to make your Rudy argument, that you are not seeing the new system you've been asking for.

So, what I have never heard from you yet, is what is it you are actually looking for other than more picks...there is more to this game than low post isolation and high picks...say something construction for once.

Rocket History lesson(in a whiny voice):

"Oh please, let us make the playoffs!!"
    --Done

"Oh please, let us have a shot at the championship."
    --Done

"Oh please, let us win a title so that we can shut the world up."
    --Done

"Oh please, let us come back from 20 points down and win another title. Lets make a trade so that we get another player here and make a repeat come true."
    --Done

"Oh please, we got swept by the evil Sonics, lets bring someone here to deliver us and give us another chance to win again."
    --Done

"Oh please, bring Scottie here. We will win with him."
    --Done

"Oh, if we only had a player to build around so that we can make the transition easier when Dream and Chuck retire and then sign young players to help with the rebuilding."
    --Done

"Oh, we need more motion in the offense and implement a better offensive strategy. We need to run more."
    --Done

And now, you want to get rid of the coach??

I agree that some of his moves are wacky. But you don't realize that he has 8 brand new, YOUNG players on the team and to make it all work to your liking and win you a championship is damn near impossible for any coach to do? All Rudy does is work 18 hour days to please fans like yourself who b**** and complain about every minor detail. Would you fire Pat Riley? Would you fire Larry Brown? Would you fire Jerry Sloan? What about Lenny Wilkins? All of these coaches have not done damn near 10 percent of what Rudy has done in the last 10 years.

You can say it was Olajuwon. You can say it was luck. You can say whatever you want to say about Rudys success. But if you think that its all because of him that we are not hitting free-throws, that we are not taking care of the ball and that we are not finishing games(which, I might add, happened ALOT in 1995 when we won the second title), then your personal vendeta against him blinds you.

One question, who do you suggest coaches the team if Rudy gets fired? Who can you prove will do a better job? Van Chancellor? Or maybe Dick Vitale?

Gimme a break, already. Let the man do his job.

After reading Caveman's one-millionth Anti-Rudy post, I am convinced that Wilma has been clubbing him on the head far too much!
