I used to beat box live in middle school and highschool talent shows... the novelty was that I was white and did it better than anybody in the whole school... I brought the house down several times... Then began writing lyrics, even recorded several hours of rap music... Then grew up. Sorry no videos of it.
I was the whitest Fat Boys fan in the Midwest in the mid-80's! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gt0LBlH3dAc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gt0LBlH3dAc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Loving every single minute of it......I am addicted to the show. Don't even bother asking me about "You're the one that I want" either. DD
My fiance can do it. We went to a wedding once and the DJ was having technical difficulties so he beat boxed for like twenty minutes while the fixed them. I was pretty amazed. But it was really funny since the DJ was pretty bad anyway. They should have just paid him to do all the music. I'd pay him to do my reception but since its his too I don't guess that will work.
There are a few beatboxing forums on the 'Net that attract fans from all around the world. Check out www.beatboxing.com and their forums. They sometimes battle by uploading clips of themselves beatboxing. There are other sites like this on da 'Net. Beatboxing is alive and well. The humanbeatbox.com site that Achilleus posted is probably the best one. That was the first beatboxing site I ever went to. lol. Great stuff.
Art of Noise did have a song called "Beat Box" though. It was popular with breakdancers, so maybe you do have at least a bit of cool in you. lol.
That's Bobby McFerrin btw. He did the Don't Worry Be Happy song, which is also all A Capella. Love his stuff.
this isn't beatboxing, but it's pretty cool. It's mixing together different sounds by video editing http://www.wtfsrsly.com/montagemusic.htm
Call me old, but I thought beatboxing was stupid in the early 80s, and 20+ years later, I still think it's stupid. I prefer someone who actually plays an instrument, just like I prefer singers to rappers. Flame away.
eh, I mean your preference for what you ear enjoys is your preference. But to call beatboxing stupid is..well, stupid. Different people like different sounds. Considering that singing takes just as much talent and practice as beatboxing, I don't see how you can call one stupid and not the other.
If you think singing takes just as much talent as beatboxing, you're nuts. Practice? probably. Talent? No freaking way.
