Speaking of which, I've been wanting to get a gun for security purposes, but I have no idea how to go about it, what applications you might have to fill out, where to go (besides Wal-Mart), and what to buy. Anyone feel like schooling a rookie sometime, I'm totally open to suggestions.
For home defense get a 12 gauge shotgun. Go to academy and get a 12 gauge pump action. (or you could wait for a gun show) You will probably have to show ID but I don't believe there is a waiting period or background check for shotguns. The best thing about a shotgun is the action of putting a shell into the chamber is very distinct and will scare the pants off anyone with a brain, easy to point and shoot, will take down an intruder, won't penetrate through brick or much drywall and endanger others. I have numerous types of guns from single action six shooters, semi auto 9mm, various shotguns and rifles. If you are in houston and want to go out to the range to try some out let me know.
Not sure how a gun would help you in this case unless you either a) carry the gun to the door with you or b) ask them politely after they barge in if you can get your gun.
If I'm opening a door for people I don't know, I'd carry a gun with me and keep it hidden behind the door. Luckily I'm lazy and never get up to open the door when people knock.
The knock on your door this evening won't be burglars. It will be the pizza guy delivering 30 extra large pizzas with 15 2 liters of Pepsi. Good luck with that.
I heard on the radio that it is a very rare jersey and it's no longer manufactured -- that's why they mentioned it. The reporter interviewed a sports collectible store owner and IIRC they said they'd never seen one of these jerseys.
