And when was the last time a team with a score first PG won the ring? Oh wait, not one team has done that!
This is fun, we have had this argument lots of times, why don't we post a thread saying...who should start at PG, Brooks or Lowry and see how that goes? DD
If anyone tells me they'd rather have Jose Calderon, Mo Williams, Lo Williams, Baron Davis, Devin Harris or Andre Miller over AB then they're insane. ALL CAPS INSANE.
+1!!!! The PG's with multiple rings were dependable shooters when left open or needed a bucket. None of them had great assist numbers. Fish, Parker, Smith and Kerr.
Call me when Yao transforms into Tim Duncan and AB shoots 50% from the field year in & year out. Parker shot 55% from the field in 05-06.
Look at their EFG%, that is a better indicator, Brooks taking so many 3pters hurts his overall FG%, but his efficiency is pretty danged good. Same as how Lowry's FTs make him a more efficient player..... Can't just look at FG%..... Lies, Damned lies, and statistics....FTW ! No, it is like the mar1juana debate, where you have a small vocal minority, and the majority just let them complain because they see the truth, just as the organization does, as they run AB out there night in and night out. DD
I like AB but I do believe Lowry fits better with this team. AB's speed and shooting does help out a lot. The one thing though I would point out was AB had to play a certain role on this team. He had no choice but to shoot. I think this year we can make a better judgement on how AB fits as being a passing PG. With Yao, Scola, Martin, and Battier at the 3 point line, there's no reason why AB can't average 6 plus assists a game. I do think having Yao in the paint will hurt AB's game though.
No hate here. Unlike most, I actually knew who AB was before draft night and was delighted with the pick.
Its different you have to have good players around that PG. I mean the spurs won it with Tony Parker the year he won the MVP and he was pretty much a score first PG.
I understand what you are trying to say but that holds true for all players. When you have better players around you, you performer better. That is not what is being debated here though. The question is, has AB improved as a passer and evidence from a larger sample size suggests that he has not. Also, his ATR since the trading deadline is not good either. He had an ATR of 2.09, which means he can barely throw two passes without throwing it away. Considering that most of his assists comes from kicking it out after he iso's and penetrates, it makes his passing even worse.
You forget that those guys had HOF creators distributing and essentially doing their jobs for them Kobe Manu - HOF IMO Jordan. All penetrated and created for outside shooters!!
