It seems that no one wants a BCS at large spot. Okie Light is eliminating themselves now. Pitt did so yesterday. Clemson did earlier today (if they had any chance). Barring conference championship upsets, it's looking more and more likely that the 4 at-larges will be: TCU Boise SEC-runner up Iowa or Penn State no one from the Pac10, ACC, B12, or Big East deserves one. Hopefully TCU and Boise don't get stuck playing each other. We're also looking at possibly the top 10 teams in the country all being in BCS games, which would mean 5 really good matchups.
That video is a thing of beauty. I remember nobody gives the Horns a chance against USC, and Vince just owned their entire d. Few players in college football history dominated games the way he could.
I think Georgia Tech gets in, and they deserve it. Of course, as long as they take care of business against Georgia which I think they will. I think the best two teams in the country are Florida and TCU, and those two teams deserve to play for the championship. TCU's defense is unbelievable.
i cant speak for cincy, but anyone saying TCU would get rolled if they played in a BCS conference hasn't been paying attention.
Yeah - I'm assuming GaTech wins the ACC and gets the automatic bid that way. My guess right now is: Title game: Texas vs Florida Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. TCU Orange Bowl: GaTech vs. Cinci Fiesta Bowl: Boise vs. Penn State Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio State We could potentially end with 4 undefeateds, which would be pretty cool!
Cinci is not a BCS buster - they get the automatic bid from the Big East. The BCS busters would be TCU and Boise. I really hope they don't face each other. I'd like to see them play BCS teams and see how they match up.
I have a question. Let's say a non-BCS school such as TCU or Boise State goes undefeated and wins their bowl game, which is not the title game. Could they declare themselves national champions? I mean, I remember before the BCS there were instances of that happening when some colleges ended up with the same record. What about a BCS conference school claiming they are national champions? Say Cincinnati or Texas go undefeated but do not end up in the title game and win their bowl game. Could they declare themselves national champions or does being part of a BCS conference mean they have to recognize the BCS champion?
Well I suppose anyone could declare they are champions but it doesn't mean anything. The winner of the national championship game earns the BCS National Championship. The AP poll is completely separate though so their voters could decide that some other undefeated is more worthy and declare them #1 in their eyes.
Something like this happened just a few years ago, maybe 2004. LSU beat OU to win the BCS championship, but then USC beat Michigan or some other team and also ended up with 1 loss like LSU. AP voted USC the national champs.
