A National Championship game should never be played in the same State as one of the contestants. Home field advantage is too important in college football.

And, no, UT barely beat an average OSU team. Their ranking is accurate.

I can tell you one that isn't. Tech. #12 2 spots ahead of the team that kicked their ass in the Cotton Bowl? That's a joke.

Riight. I'll assume you had no idea that Crabtree was injured for that game.

Utah stomped a mud hole in the team Florida barely beat to get the BCS title game. Utah deserves the title champion more than anyone.

There is no national champion... its a joke. What cracks me up is all the whining these coaches do to get a paper championship. Mack Brown is a Joke.

    Mack Brown 3

    God I love that.

Maybe - but then they were not impressive against a top-5 type team. Texas was unmpressive against the 2nd place team in a weak B10. I think our performance in the Fiesta Bowl ended any questions about whether we were the best. Right or wrong, we had to dominate that game (like USC did when they faced them) and we didn't.

C'mon Major. That Ohio team weas not the same team that played USC at the begining of the season. Just like that Techtard team we played was not the same one that went into mobilehoma. Couple that with Ohio St huge chip on their shoulder, weeks of hearing what a joke they are and how Texas will blow them out, and one month to prepare for the Longhorns... I would say that the Ohio St team that showed up at the Fiesta Bowl would pummel Penn St. and give USC a better game.

Yeah, but it's rare to see a quarterback go all KG on the field and the sideline. He looked like a complete idiot, and in fact, he is probably a complete idiot.

I predict a complete NFL bustage for Tebow, and no, I don't mean that woman in the brown bikini. I mean he is too stupid, with too slow a release, and too slow of foot, to make it in the NFL. Color me: can't wait. Maybe the Raiders will pick him.

I'll echo this. I had a friend that goes to OU stay with my last night in Austin, and while I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Sooners get what was coming to them, I felt it was a wasted game. Utah should have been there, opposed to two teams that had lost a game in embarrassing fashion. I've always hated the bowl setup, not just the BCS. Sure, it's nice for schools like Rice and Ball State to play meaningful games at the end of the year, but I've never liked the idea of the extraneous "championship" game. I can't imagine getting too excited to be the Meineke Car Care Bowl champions. The NCAA basketball setup is far superior, with each game being do-or-die and crowning an ultimate champion.

I'm not a huge football fan, but I have to follow it being a Longhorn. And this BCS insanity has really solidified my distaste for the process. It's just a bunch of money-grabbing university presidents who won't listen to the will of the fans.

Oh come on. The 2nd place team in the ridiculously bad B10 (that went 1-5) in bowl games) would give a good game to USC, who crushed the best team in that same B10 - and was in a conference that went 5-0 in the Pac10? Really?

All these excuses are ridiculous - OSU improved (USC didn't?), had a chip on their shoulder (Texas didn't?), had a month to prepare (didn't all the schools have a month to prepare?) are getting ridiculous. Penn State had a month to prepare for USC too. And Texas, oddly enough, had a month to prepare for Ohio State. It's like every excuse is made to justify that Texas is awesome, no matter what. Tech sucks therefore should be excluded from a 3 way tie, so it's down to TX/OU. But Texas had the better loss because they lost on the road to a great #2 Tech team, etc. It's all circular designed to end up at "Texas is the best" no matter what might happen in any other game. If it had been a high scoring game, it would have been "these teams can't play defense like Texas", etc.

Ultimately, instead of using all these random possible reasons games didn't play out the way they "should have", just look at the results. The Big 10 as a whole sucked in bowl games - it probably means the conference sucks. Ohio State is not some miracle exception that went the whole season pretending to be mediocre but was actually awesome. The Pac 10 did great - it probably means they were underrated. Every single Big 12 team except Kansas underperforming probably means the B12 was just a bit overrated.

Oklahoma finished the season #5, Ohio State finished #9. Is there that big a difference in 4 places?

I'm OK with Florida winning the championship, in part because their second-toughest opponent (Alabama) was probably better than our 2nd toughest (Ohio State), with both UT and Florida having played Oklahoma and won by the same margin of victory. And Georgia (#13), Florida's 3rd toughest opponent, was probably better than Oklahoma State (#16). But it's really splitting hairs in both cases.

Until they have a playoff system, we'll continue to have these ridiculous arguments instead of deciding things on the field. Who would have won between Florida and Texas? We'll never know.

I'm glad that Texas has an undisputed crystal ball in their trophy case.

 Poor me? for watching that game, yeah, LOL. I don't hate the guy, or either team, but I do predict he won't do well in the NFL. Et tu?

I didn't really have a dog in the BCS fight. Rice U won their bowl game, but I did not think they belonged in the national title discussion somehow. :)

Is he the only WR on that team? Crabtree was not the reason Ole Miss beat tech.

If you're talking about when he got the personal foul call on him. I thought that was pretty good of him to do it. Nic Harris #5 of OU did a dirty play on Harvis. He attacked his ankle and sort of twisted it even after the whistle blew. Tebow stepped up for his teammate and jawed back at Harris after a big play.

I sort of agree with you on the bustage part. He won't make it as a QB but I see him more like a tight end. He might make it as that.

Tebow is overrated, but that Florida defense isn't. They really stepped it up with those goal line stands even though I think it was half Stoops' fault for being to damn cocky.
