Objectively , of course you would have to give the edge to Alabama. They kicked Florida's butt during the SEC championship game. However, it doesn't really matter. This isn't a popularity contest. This will be determined on the field tonight and its been a month since either team has played a football game. A lot can happen in a month. Just look at Oklahoma and Alabama last year.

 

Lots of people who don't know football in the world with keyboards, I see.

I feel just like I did in 2005. I don't want tonight to get here cause if we lose this season is a waste. We will have to wait at least 2 more years until we can have a shot again.

 

Playing in the national title game and losing is not a waste. There are 118 other teams out there who would like to be playing in this game. Hook-Em.

yes it was. i can't recall anyone outside of austin thinking they had a chance. it's still bad this year, but nowhere near as bad as 05. to top 05 off, they barely mentioned texas leading up to the game, instead they focused on how fat and cross-eyed matt lienart was as a kid.

 

Agreed. In 2005, Ohio also picked Texas (because we had beaten Ohio State), but the rest of the country gave Texas even less of a chance than this year. Alabama hasn't been run through the "top 10 best teams of all time" nonsense.

 

Instead its just how the SEC is the greatest conf ever

True, but to be fair, they have arguments to rationally support that argument. The SEC is 5-0 in national title games - the rest of the conferences are 6-11 combined (none above 0.500). The SEC is 12-5 in BCS games; the Pac10 is at 0.500, the WAC is 2-1, the MWC is 2-1 and every other conference is below 0.500.

I don't have a problem with the "SEC has been the dominant conference" argument because at its backed up by something. The "USC is the greatest of all time" had huge holes, like the fact that they had no defense and that they squeaked by Fresno State - but those things were just totally ignored.

 

I agree that is it the dominant conf, but the hype is a little too much.

That texas team was great team. This one really isn't eve if they win.
