I second that The Tigers should be playing for a national title.
Ask someone who runs the computers what school they used to attend and what conference...can we say rigged all around.

ASU was 8-3. The last loss to Arizona did hurt.

I'm a Cal alum, too, and yes, Cal football seems cursed. I feel like being a Cal football fan is a little like being an Oilers fan in the 80s.

But here's some good news for you, derrock: the SF Chronicle says that sources tell them that Cal is going to announce a 5 year contract extension for Tedford in the next 10 days. That is huge, just massive. It takes the sting away from this BCS mess.

Here's the thing ... the ASU loss and even the Southern Mississippi non-blowout weren't enough to kill Cal's Rose Bowl hopes. What really doomed us -- and what both baffles my mind and pisses me off -- is that we LOST votes in the polls after blowing out Stanfurd 41-6 and Texas was idle. That opened the door for Texas to go to the Rose Bowl, and there's no damn excuse for it. A 35 point blowout wasn't enough for us to not lose votes? We were supposed to beat Stanfurd by 80 that week?

It needs to be decided on the field, not by voters. I think the voters failed us more than the Pac-10 (although the Pac-10 sure didn't help a lot).

    BCS - C = BS

    (C = Cal)

I will root for Texas in the Rose Bowl, though. My Grandpa went to Texas, my aunts and uncles went to Texas, and the first college football game I ever attended (at age 11) was a UT/A&M game in Austin.

    Go Bears!
    Hook 'em!

    NO. :D

Seriously, though, I think Utah had the better team and the better season, but the way that the coaching is blowing up in Salt Lake right now, I don't know how well they're going to play in the Fiesta v Pitt.

Question: Is it too late for the honchos at Everyone's Internet to rename their bowl the "Disgraced Coaches Bowl" in honor of Mike Price and Gary Barnett?

Good news for Price is that there are titty bars galore within a short drive of Reliant. Trader_Jorge....if you see a drunken old football coach walk into Treasures, be careful when trying to lift his credit card.

    Mark my words...

Texas Tech is going to wipe our asses with Cal. Won't even be close.

    Texas Tech-77
    Cal-13

    Bet the house on it.

I hope you're right, although I have a funny feeling that Cal will be highly pissed off at ANY school from Texas that they happen to play.

    Looks like it's official:

Cal reaches five-year contract extension with Tedford

To me, that's the best thing CAL has done this season, and that's really saying something. Now, if Rodgers stays, we'll be thinking Rose Bowl for the National Championship next year.

Yeah, trash-talking already. Hey FFB, us CAL fans haven't really experienced an ass-wiping this season. Maybe you can tell me how it felt after that Texas game on your home field.

W/O McArthur and Lyman, Cal's two best receivers, it's going to be tough to keep up with Tech's aerial attack. The defense has to show up and ball control will be key. The conservative approach in the So. Miss game was baffling and frustrating, but that's probably the best approach to this game.

I'm not sure what's baffling about giving the ball to a running back who runs for over 250 yards in the game.

We've been without 2 of our best 3 receivers for much of they year; now we're without 3 of 3. It's a blow, but the receiving corps is banged up anyway.

The question is how Tech will stop Cal's two-headed monster of Arrington and Lynch at running back and if Cal can stop the pass. I'm not too worried about our receiving corps.

I'll bet you whatever you want that Tech doesn't win by 64. :p

Hey, I'm on your side. I'm a Cal student. But everyone knew that we needed a convincing win to go to the Rose Bowl. Whether it is right to have to blow out a team to make the Rose Bowl is irrelevant; the fact is that that's the way it is and is what we should've been trying to do. And I'm not talking about running up the score at the end, I'm talking about stretching the field during the game.

How do you score a lot of points? You take your shots down the field with the passing game. I have no problem with giving the ball to Arrington. I do have a problem with the lack of play action combined with taking shots down the field when we do choose to pass. So. Miss has the 50th ranked pass defense in the nation, allowing 207.0 ypg through the air, yet Rodgers only ended up w/ 223 yds. 4 of our 5 longest plays were runs. It was a conservative gameplan.

The thing that worries me is that McArthur was the ONLY receiving threat. After him, the next highest receiver had 25 yards. We can't run every play; there must be something to keep the defense honest. Hopefully Jordan or Makonnen will step up.
