VATech won one of the toughest conferences in the country. They deserve it.

Pitt, on the other hand, does not. It should have been Cal or Louisville in their spot.

Great for VATech, but Cal deserves to be there ahead of VATech.

    unreal.
i cannot believe Texas passed Berkeley.
    go horns.

btw, playing UT in the cotton bowl would have been cool. nothing like a repeat of a previous national championship game. i've always wanted to play michigan though.

    word.

Wow, Mack Brown literally whined his way into a BCS bowl and another year under contract.

man, the techsters better be ready for the holiday bowl cuz cal is gonna be pissed. or they could just not give a damn like us last year, but i'd think they're going to be pissed. not that tech wasn't already outmatched anyway.

and a&m plays tenn. and osu plays the other osu in the alamo. big xii could go 0-3 in those bowls pretty easily it seems. at least i would think they would be the underdog in all those games (the osu's are pretty close in the rankings). UT may be the only favorite for the big xii in our top 5 bowl games.

See, I disagree. Did anyone actually watch Cal yesterday? Poor Secondary. What does Tech do all game? Pass.

    A&M will destroy Tennessee.

USC is overrated (beating UCLA by only 5???)

Big 12 will go AT LEAST 5-2 in the bowl games this year.

you gotta do what you gotta do. no one was going to care about us unless we brought it up. the computers liked us and they couldn't hear the campaigning.

it sucks for cal but we should've gone last year if it wasn't for ksu and we've won 10 games 4 years in a row. it was time for us to get in one of these.

I don't think it was the whining as much as Cal stunk it up on national TV last night with everyone watching.

    S. Miss did more for Texas than Mack campaigning.

they very well may but i would still think they'll be underdogs in the majority of the games.

tenn with it's qb situation can be had by the aggies. but the aggies haven't exactly dominated anyone and have lost to baylor.

tech isn't the same team on the road.

iowa st sucks and is playing miami (OH) who with an 8-4 record in the MAC can't be that good but could still be favored.

colorado v UTEP? i don't know who will be favored there. UTEP was looking nice then lost to someone crappy at the end. CU just put up 46 yards for a whole game.

usc's D could get torn up by ou but they're still considered #1 and might be favored.

UT's one loss vs UM's 2 should be the only clear cut favorite for the big xii. lets hope we don't mess it up now that we're here. 11-1 with a Rose Bowl win. wouldn't be too shabby. and i don't have to wake up at 10 in the morning to watch the cotton bowl so that's awesome as well.

can we beat them? of course. if we played like we did against osu in the second half, we could crush them. if we played like we did against kansas we could lose easily.

i think we'd definitely win more than we would lose. having not seen them i doubt they have the athletes to hang with us on any consistent basis. one-time basis, anything can happen.

This nuts. Count on 3 of the top 4 Big 12 teams losing Texas has the best chance to win because Michigan is one of the easier New Years Day opponents. (luckily they didn't draw one of the 3 SEC powers of Auburn, Georgia and LSU). And if the Big 12 comes out 500, it will because of their lower tier teams (OSU, CU, ISU) in lower tier bowls (with opponents like UTEP, Miami of Ohio) were successful.

The Big 12 has been underrated many years, but this year, like last year--with Texas, OU and KSU at the top all getting manhandled, they are overrated. I think the Big 12 South got much overrated this year because the Big 12 North provided so many easy victories. Remember A&M got destroyed by a mid-major (Utah), Tech also lost to one (New Mexico), and Texas squeeked by a non bowl eligible team in the SEC (Arkansas) who clearly did not belong on the same field with Auburn or LSU.

The Cal defense supposedly with a terrible secondary shut down Leinert and Walter, yeah they suck  The injury to their wide out may hurt, but if they can stay motivated they will kill Tech.
It will be interesting to see by far the weakest of the top 4 SEC teams (Tenn) versus the Big 12 #3(A&M)--I still probably pick Tennessee. Tennessee was up and down largely because of QB instability, but people forget they have a lot of talent, beat Georgia, and only lost 2 games going into the SEC championship. It isn't like they lost to Baylor and a midmajor (OK I am just needling the Aggies here, I actually believe Utah is good, a legit top 12 team or so.

After all this though I think Texas has a right to be in the BCS. I would rather have got chance to play Utah or Auburn. Cal kinda got jobbed, but Cal is in UT's position, if you take care of your own business (beat OU, Beat USC) you don't have to worry about the BCS stuff. Nevermind, Auburn blew this theory. Man I hate the BCS system. 8 team playoff please.

Congrats Texas! Like I was saying in the other thread, both CAL and Texas deserved to go. Hope you whup on Michigan and show them that they are the truly undeserving team in the Rose Bowl.

Now, if there are any CAL fans out there, here's my little spiel for them. Man, doesn't it seem like CAL football has some sort of curse. Here we have our best team in half a century and we still can't get to a New Year's bowl. I know everyone likes to point out that our best win was against a 6-5 ASU team. Hello, we lost only one game, therefore we never got a chance to play a team better than 6-5. Even that one loss sucks because we absolutely smack USC off their Trojan horse everywhere but special teams. But this CAL team shook off that loss and did everything in it's power to stay in the National picture. Ultimately, it's own conference failed them. Oregon (picked by SI to finish #18) went into a nosedive after they lost to CAL. Then, ASU absolutely chokes against Arizona. If those two things don't happen, then Texas wouldn't have had a such a big advantage in the computers. And to add even more salt to the wound, losing part of that $14 million payoff may also mean losing Tedford. Ugh...at least I can take heart in watching a pissed-off #4 team in the country destroy a Bobby Knight associated school.

For those looking for Rose Bowl tickets, general public tickets go on sale Tuesday, December 7th at 8:00AM PST (so 6:00AM Texas time). The number is (213) 365-3675. Click here for full details.
