    So this is the thanks I get. I bust my ass every single night keeping Gotham City safe from maniacs and psychos. I train little kids to do the same thing. And I inspire hot chicks like Yvonne Craig and Julie Newmar to dress up in tight outfits and fight each other. PLUS I find time to run a bad ass theater company AND watch every single Rocket game.

    And I'm getting beat by a ref. A REF! And a lawyer to boot.

    No justice.

    Thanks to the two or three posters out there who still appreciate crimefighters.

    Just moments ago, I spoke with Drapg and congratulated him on advancing to the final 4.

    I offered to meet with him as soon as possible so that we can start to heal the divisions of the campaign and the contest through which we just passed.

    Almost a century and a half ago, Senator Stephen Douglas told Abraham Lincoln, who had just defeated him for the presidency, "Partisan feeling must yield to patriotism. I'm with you, Mr. President, and God bless you."

    Well, in that same spirit, I say to Drapg that what remains of partisan rancor must now be put aside, and may God bless him in the next round.

    Neither he nor I anticipated this long and difficult road. Certainly neither of us wanted it to happen. Yet it came, and now it has ended, resolved, as it must be resolved, through the honored institutions of our democracy.

    Over the library of one of our great law schools is inscribed the motto, "Not under man but under God and law." That's the ruling principle of American freedom, the source of our democratic liberties. I've tried to make it my guide throughout this contest as it has guided CC.nets deliberations of all the complex issues of the past five weeks.

    Now the BBS has spoken. Let there be no doubt, while I strongly disagree with the forums decision, I accept it. I accept the finality of this outcome which will be ratified Thurs. morning in the way Manny deems necessary. And tonight, for the sake of our unity of the people and the strength of our democracy, I offer my concession.

    I also accept my responsibility, which I will discharge unconditionally, to honor the new final four member and do everything possible to help him bring CC.net together in fulfillment of the great vision that Clutch defines and that RocketMan95 affirms and defends.

    Let me say how grateful I am to all those who supported me and supported the cause for which we have fought. Don Gramme, Lunatic, Francis3, The Reason, Roxran and others I feel a deep gratitude to you who brought passion and high purpose to our partnership and opened new doors, not just for our campaign but for our forum.

    This has been an extraordinary election. But in one of God's unforeseen paths, this belatedly broken impasse can point us all to a new common ground, for its very closeness can serve to remind us that we are one people with a shared history and a shared destiny.

    Indeed, that history gives us many examples of contests as hotly debated, as fiercely fought, with their own challenges to the popular will.

    Other disputes have dragged on for weeks before reaching resolution. And each time, both the victor and the vanquished have accepted the result peacefully and in the spirit of reconciliation.

    So let it be with us.

    I know that many of my supporters are disappointed. I am too. But our disappointment must be overcome by our love of the BBS.

    And I say to our fellow members of the BBS community, let no one see this contest as a sign of CC.net's weakness. The strength of American democracy is shown most clearly through the difficulties it can overcome.

    Some have expressed concern that the unusual nature of this election might hamper the next round in the conduct of this office. I do not believe it need be so.

    Drapg inherits a place whose citizens will be ready to assist him in the conduct of his large responsibilities.

    I personally will be at his disposal, and I call on all CC.netters -- I particularly urge all who stood with us to unite behind our next round. This is Clutch City Dot Net. Just as we fight hard when the stakes are high, we close ranks and come together when the contest is done.

    And while there will be time enough to debate our continuing differences, now is the time to recognize that that which unites us is greater than that which divides us.

    While we yet hold and do not yield our opposing beliefs, there is a higher duty than the one we owe to sports banter. This is CC.net and we put opinions before party. We will stand together behind our new front runner.

    As for what I'll do next, I don't know the answer to that one yet. Like many of you, I'm looking forward to spending the holidays with family and old friends. I know I'll spend time drunk and mend some fences, literally and figuratively.

    Some have asked whether I have any regrets and I do have one regret: that I didn't get the chance to stay and fight for the black dudes and dumbasses over the next four years, especially for those who need burdens lifted and barriers removed, especially for those who feel their voices have not been heard. I heard you and I will not forget.

    I've seen bullsh!t in this campaign and I like what I see. It's worth fighting for and that's a fight I'll never stop.

    As for the battle that ends tonight, I do believe as my father once said, that no matter how hard the loss, defeat might serve as well as victory to shape the soul and let the glory out.

    So for me this campaign ends as it began: with the love of wifey and our family; with faith in God and in the Clutch City Dot Net I have been so proud to serve, from 1 post to the several hundred; and with gratitude to our truly tireless campaign staff and volunteers, including all those who worked so hard in other forums for the last 12 hours.

    Now the political struggle is over and we turn again to the unending struggle for the common good of all posters and for those multitudes around the world who look to us for leadership in the cause of pumping up our Rockets.

    In the words of our great hymn, "America, America": "Let us crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea."

    And now, my friends, in a phrase I once addressed to others, it's time for me to go.

    Another Brother's concession not accepted

    Houston, Texas - Before performing his critically acclaimed comedy act at a local nightclub, Another Brother delivered a touching and poised concession speech to prematurely end his run for the Clutchcity.net BBS Best Poster (The Sequel) Tournament. Surprised audience members, expecting a night of brilliant comedy and hi-jinks, were initially shocked to hear that the favorite in the election chose to bow out. One patron was quoted as saying, "I've supported Another from day one! I refuse to alter my views! Drapg would run this BBS into a newbie flaming, grammar lacking, political thread barren forum!"

    Brother has widely been considered the favorite to win the seat of Best BBS Poster since its inception many weeks ago. Brother's eloquent speech was the ultimate symbol of goodwill and proved that he is most worthy of the crown. Brother called for unity amongst BBS posters and asked his supporters to swing their weight behind drapg, his feeble opponent. Drapg is the same man who has utilized mudslinging and dirty politics to disgrace the great name of Brother in all outlets of the media, turning off many voters. Drapg's sexual exploits with Britney Spears have also raised eyebrows amongst the conservative crowd in the BBS.

    A spokesperson from the drapg camp stated, "We refuse to accept this concession. Another Brother is an extremely formidable opponent who would provide the much needed leadership that the BBS so richly deserves. If anything, drapg should be the one to step down." It has been rumored that the drapg camp is pressuring election official Manny Ramirez to deny Brother's concession and proclaim him the winner of the Elite Eight round immediately.

    Houston, TEXAS -- Although not involved in the drapg-Another Brother election contest in the Best BBS Poster (The Sequel) Tournament, Final Four candidate Refman has made a statement regarding the situation.

    "Both candidates involved are informed, insightful and extremely talented posters," Refman was quoted as saying just after midnight on Tuesday. "It is with a very heavy heart that I learn of Another Brother's concession." When then presented with a copy of Another Brother's concession speech, Refman was flabbergasted. "This is one of the most eloquent things I have ever read. I really wish he would have held off until Wendnesday night."

    Rumors have been flying that groups supporting Refman plan to contact election official Manny Ramirez to invalidate the concession. Officials from "Refman for Best BBS Poster" and "Friends of Refman" were unable to be reached Tuesday early morning.

    We provided Refman a copy of drapg's statements in the Times. "This is really messed up," Refman replied.

    When asked why he voted for drapg, Refman stated that "drapg and I have a lot in common. We both love The Sopranos and the Rockets. We are both unemployed and this BBS is really the only thing we have going on in our lives."

    Mrs. Ref was conveniently unavailable for comment.

    This thing was fixed and everybody knows it. I'm upset with AB for not fighting harder to claim what is rightfully his, but I have to recognize that anything short of armed insurrection would be futile in this political climate. The majority of posters simply don't care that their rights were just trampled in a style not seen since Uncle Joe Stalin became head of the Rooskies. This is not the ClutchCity I grew up in. It is, instead, a haven for plutocrats who corrupted Manny to ensure this dreadful outcome. I have firsthand knowledge that the notices for this vote were not posted in "Rockets Saved" thus denying AB the votes of a core constituency he worked hard to build. This proves that the people really running this board don't believe in Democracy. Without the political string-pulling by his dad, drapf, drapg would have never stood a chance, much less been "selected" by the odious Manny. Where, O where is the outrage!
