Maybe this is the best thing that can happen to rox.

As this might be the openning for rox to resign tmac dirt cheap. Hence retaining a former all-star and having loads of space to sign in another all-star.

the surgery is simple but recovery is so completed that many athletes are done coz the surgery. everyone brought up amare case. amare is so young and he hasn't played alot yet. i believe he is done. at the best he will be at the level he played in this season so no one in 2010 will consider him a big fish.

I do not think he is done.

The operation is not that easy, you gotta be careful with those small fractures in the bone.

As you said, many players fail to come back from that surgery because they DO NOT REHAB. The biggest problem with that surgery is that you have to rehab for about 6 (unbelivable) hours per day and you have to do that every day. Many guys just give up.

If Tracy doesn't, he will be back.

rehab is not a painless routine activity like eating food 3 times each day. if he can't bear the pain, i really doubt he would be back.

I have NO idea what does the rehab look like, but I am sure T-Mac will do everything he has to.

I think he might just surprise us...

the fans and the Rox organization... have basically written him off..

a person with Tmac's mentality will come back fighting...

since he has hit rock bottom from a mental and physical point of view...

he basically has nothing to lose now....

it's like i said, many people are misinformed and ignorant and just because of the term "microfracture surgery" believe there's no way people can come back from this type of surgery.

reality is, though, that most patients don't get back to 100 % because:

    a. they have a lot of cartilage damage on weight-bearing parts of the knee.

    b. they do too much too soon in terms of rehab or other activities with the injured knee.

    c. they stop rehabbing once they feel healthy.

obviously, a) isn't the case with mcgrady. b) might be a problem if he would ever do what dr. dd prescribes. c) might be a problem for a normal person but the rockets will make sure this isn't the case with t-mac and i also believe t-mac himself has the desire to play good and pain free basketball again.

bottom line: t-mac's chances are great and if he isn't back for the start of next season it should be considered a huge disappointment.

    You are exactly right.

The microfracture is always serious but it shouldn't be a carrer ending situation. Hell, Tracy shouldn't even lose much of his game, as the doctors said.

He is missing only 0,5 cm of his cartilage.

Now he only has to REHAB hard which I think the Rockets will take care of.
