Nothing wrong with this other than them getting it backwards. You should be able to opt-in rather than have to opt-out.

The Jontro will not be moving to England in the near future.

Internet traffic and external hdd sales will be huge til that law comes into effect. Millions of terrified British males will download terrabytes of p*rn now to have as much as possible in the future.

I do think p*rn is too easily accessible. I think you should have to turn that filter off if you want assuming that it is easy to do.

So a Brit will need to go under browser options and click the enable p*rn button to watch p*rn? How does one 'choose to receive it'? Do they call their IP and say 'enable the porns'?

Notice how it says 1, 894 comments? I think this is a sign, relative to this article, depicting what is really going on here, with a simple unscrambling of those 4 numbers.... follow?

This thread needs some sense and level-headedness added to it...

England has long been bad with respect to privacy.

Also, of course this is all about saving the children. Lolz. Cue the Helen Lovejoy pic.

In truth, p*rn shouldn't be in the same general search results as everything else. There should be better "regular" and "adult" segregation.

The .XXX domain extensions for p*rn sites I thought is a good idea (on paper). Maybe not for Google and the website's bottom line, but so its zoned off like everything else is in life.

The stupid aspect about all the protect the females thing, is women willingly put themselves in these situations to BE glorified.

For instance - depending on city, can in Craiglists job "gigs", and see that half the gig want ads are for fetish stuff

Its up to girls to NOT take the solicitations. No the "predatory" ads shouldnt be put there. But enough girls won't pass up the chance to make the no-work no-skill lazy easy money either.

I think this is a good strategy! They are not banning p*rn, it will still be available
for those who must have it. The only thing it's doing is helping those households
that do not want access to those websites to better control what their kids are
    being exposed to.

It sounds to me like blacklisting 'horrific' search terms is a bigger deal than a pron opt-in. It doesn't sound like a blacklist is part of the law at this point, but doing so would be a big free speech issue that affects all subjects.
