OK. About the first comment: They are reporting what is happening. He is saying that they cannot just accept the justification for the war. Their coverage should be reflecting the strong body of opinion in Europe. That is what is happening. I suppose it all depends what you take "lost half our audience" to mean. "Lost" as in credibility. Guerrilla - "A member of an irregular, usually indigenous military or paramilitary unit operating in small bands in occupied territory to harass and undermine the enemy, as by surprise raids." Doesn't seem unreasonable. I will admit that, whilst subjective comments, "small victories at a very high price" and "significant casualties" are not appropriate. These have not been commonly used and stated though. I certainly haven't heard either expression, or anything like them, being used.
I gotta say that I object to the title of this thread. The Pentagon isn't lying. They're simply offering an opinion in an attempt to open up the debate about the war. They should be applauded for this.
