That play had NOTHING to do with coaching. No amount of coaching is going to change his judgment on split second decisions. He over shaded and that gave Dragic a split second. He recovered well but still exercised poor judgment. He had done it all year long.... He isn't the only one. Harden exercised similar poor judgment when he shielded his own man under the bucket. The only Rocket that has great BBIQ defensively is Beverley.

The "coaching" argument applies on spacing or tactical decisions but not on stuff like the split second decisions.

I wouldn't go THAT high a percentage because Howard does it often and it isn't called, but it SHOULD be and is most the time if it is even noticed.

Uh, going to Harvard and BBIQ doesn't correlate positively.

Otherwise, most of the fundamentally sound players in the NBA would come from the Ivy Leagues.

So you wouldn't be pissed if the other team's player "flopped perfectly" on a crucial play during crunch time? You wouldn't be pissed if the refs bailed the other team out calling a non-contact swipe a foul? You wouldn't be pissed if the other team executed poorly only with their bad FT shooter making both FTs? You wouldn't be pissed if your player accidentally fell and tripped the other team's guy on a clear path foul?

Some of the things are the refs' fault. Some are just bad luck. The Suns had no business losing that game. I'd be totally pissed about losing that game.

Beverley fouls way too much for me to consider him a "smart" defender.

His defense is pure hustle and effort. He's got a great nose for steals, too. But that's physicality and instincts, not BBIQ.

Jeremy didn't get into Harvard because he was smart. He got in to play basketball. I really doubt that he's significantly above average in intelligence. He's probably just a pretty smart guy.

If your mind isn't in the game, you can do stupid things. I wouldn't take one play and judge him on it. I would take at least three plays and judge him.

Nobody on the rockets has high BBIQ. period.

it has EVERYTHING to do with coaching. Those little things are ALL about coaching and drilling. You can definitely COACH that split second decision into people and it becomes AUTOMATIC. Lin still sucks though.

Dwight's help defense last night was a joke. He was caught watching the ball way too many times.

    1) Lin actually GRADUATED from Harvard with an economics degree
    2) He had a 3.1 gpa.
    3) Harvard doesn't give out basketball scholarships
    4) He's Asian

I think it's safe to assume He's not just some dumb jock who just got a free ride.

I think Lin had a 4.0 GPA in high school and Palo Alto High is considered a highly distinguished high school.

I never said he was dumb. He's most certainly a person with above average intelligence.
It doesn't matter that Harvard doesn't give out basketball scholarships, they still accept people who are good at sports simply because they're good at sports. They won't get a scholarship because of athletic ability, but they certainly may get accepted due to athletic ability.

For that to mean anything at all, we'd have to know what kinds of classes he took. And even then, all that we can establish is that he most probably has above average intelligence.

He mentioned he took AP classes in the interview I read. I don't know anything more specific.

I don't get your point? No one is saying jlin is a genius. But he's obviously a smart guy who would have a good paying job even if he wasn't in the nba. Can't say the same for most nba players. Doesn't matter why Harvard accepted him (though it probably because of his highschool gpa and fairly high SAT score. What proves he's smart is he "graduated" from Harvard with a Econ degree while playing for the schools basketball team. There are a lot of people that fail out of lesser college while not have any extracurricular activities. No doubt in my mind the guy will not end up broke once he retires from the nba.

We can probably also assume he would have a better paying job then you even if he wasn't in the NBA. You sound jealous.

You sound foolish because you have absolutely no factual evidence to prove your point. All you have is a bunch of Assumptions. Oh and for the record, not only did Lin have a 4.2 GPA in high school but also achieved a PERFECT score on his SAT II Math 2C in the ninth grade.
