Bay Area officials have already started planning a parade for the Warriors

No doubt but don't forget also that the Dallas Mayor did the parade planning thing WHEN they were up in the Heat series in 06. We all know what Wade proceeded to do to the Mavs over the remaining games.
In 2010 if the Mayor had so much as dared say a word or have anything get to the media and public about a parade route or planning, there probably would have been a riot at Dallas City Hall imo. That's how much the Dallas folk were on edge about even so much as thinking of a parade route.

I'd be inclined to say it's not a big deal but the problem is when something like this becomes public info, there is no doubt that the other team (AND in this case "teams" since the Warriors will still have two more series after this if they get past this round),will use it as bulletin board motivation material. (Don't tell me teams don't need or use stuff like that for motivation because I've been around and seen it. They all do, in just about every sport).

Well, that's what they do. What else they are going to do with all that tax money.

 

And one of those would definitely do more damage than the other.

Remember when Cuban was planning his championship parade for Dallas up 2-0 in the finals and the Heat used that as bulletin board material?

It's a big deal in SF, there's always a whole lot going on in the bay so they have these types of things in advance. On top of that there's 7 million people, and they all are gonna want to party so it's nice for the city to have a parade planned out.

This isn't cockiness, it's being prepared and organized for the good of the residents.

 

The mayors of Oakland and San Francisco have spoken and they've decided that the parade will be held in Oak-town if the Golden State Warriors win the NBA Championship.

Oakland has so much beauty," said Mayor Libby Schaaf.

The mayor hopes the media spotlight will shine on her city during the playoffs.

"All those great shots around our Lake Merritt, people walking on tightropes, our majestic cranes that guard our waterfront," she said.​

Strange that they didn't start this with open quotation marks. They must have cut off the part: "I'd either be lying or blind if I said...

 

Why can't they do the parade in both cities?

I remember when the Minnesota Twins won the World Series, they held their parade in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

 

I have never seen this Jugdish before but that was excellent.

The point of this is it's silly as a media talking point because it equates the team with the city planning. It is entirely possible that LA, Dallas, Atlanta or Houston were also planning a parade.

 

You plan it, but you make everyone involved in planning it keep quiet.
