Until healthy, I think it stays as is, but once Ariza regains his health, I want him back in the starting lineup with Brooks and Martin.....2 creating players might make him effective again and this is the year we need to find out if it does.

We know what Shane can do, let him do it off the bench......and in the offseason, one of Shane or Trevor will need to be traded....I honestly don't care which....I think while they are different players they do about the same to help a team win.

Shane is way smarter than Trevor, and Trevor is way more athletic....either fits as the 5th option IMO.

Exactly this ^^^^, but I do know who I want back next year if one has to go, Trevor. If all else being equal, I'll take youth any time.

Im just curious how is Battier automatically considered smarter than Ariza?

have you ever watched them play? I think that is like saying Jason Kidd is a smarter player than Rafer Alston

When you watch them play, Shane is more of a positional player, always in the right spot, Trevor gets caught peaking at the ball, and plays the passing lanes well.

Shane is clearly a more cerebral player, Trevor is far more athletic.....

Neither is anything more than a 5th option, IMO......

Heck, Shane rarely makes a stupid play.....Trevor...well......

Ariza also gambles a lot on defense while Shane doesn't instead he tries to keep his man in front of him.

I have always believed a good 3 is an athlete that keeps the defense honest if they double team a perimeter player, and that can knock down the 3 if they double an interior player. Trevor does both, Shane does one.

The sad thing about tonight is that it probably might not happen again meaning we better hope that our other players step up to the plate sometimes as well.

Let's just pray that we have consistency from here on out. It'd be an accomplishment to sneak into the playoffs now that the West is even MORE competitive thisyear with the Thunder and the Grizzlies playing good basketball too.

Im comfortable with Martin, Budinger, Ariza and Battier as our wing rotation for the next 3-4 years. Adelman has been running three wings which has been effective imo. Martin will probably get injured so having four set players isnt a bad idea. Obviously its a position we are deep in so we can afford to trade one, but we shouldnt look to move them "just cause". Heck Battier probably resigns for Hayes type money after his contract expires anyway.

I think 4 is just too many, sure if you go small some to get some extra minutes, but there are 96 minutes to divide up at the 2 wing positions, and I believe only 3 fit into that spot.

One of Battier or Ariza should go....don't care which one.

I agree with either Battier or Ariza needs to go. While Ariza in younger, has more potential, and is more athletic, Battier seems to be smarter and a better defender.

I guess whoever we get a better deal for is the one that will go, but one needs to go for sure.

I like Battier better, but I think we may be able to get a better trade with him.

One is ok, two is a disaster.

And honestly, the D was bad, but the Jazz were just hot....sometimes you just tip your hat to the other guys.

I don't necessarily think so. One could just come off the bench and problem solved.

With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Battier get packaged this summer or before the trade deadline.

I was talking about two of them being on the floor at once.

I watched the Jazz game. To me, it clearly proves (once again, as if that should have been necessary) how much we need Battier. He is the anchor of our defense.

    He certainly is an anchor.

    ;)

I kid, I kid.....as I said you can afford to start one of them, but not both.

I've been of fan kevin martin for quite a while, so him starting is a no brainer to me. He cuts and moves so well off the ball that he makes the offense flow.

I was never a fan of battier and ariza starting together because their offense together is just to stagnant, dull and ugly. With martin in, we should start ariza and have battier come off the bench. Ariza will be able to play off of martin and be much more efficient with his scoring.

Dont be surprised to see ariza scoring with more ease and efficiency with martin on the wing. Teams will concentrate more on martin, which will lead to better opportunities to ariza.
