F2000 is great. AEK-971 is a close second for me, but F2000 definitely takes the cake. Assault really becomes enjoyable when you get those two weapons and some decent accessories for them. It's nearly impossible to hit jets or helicopters with standard rockets. But when you unlock the surface-to-air missiles, shooting down those things is easy. You point at the jet/helicopter, it acquires the target for a bit, then you fire and it homes in on the bastards. There's actually been complaints for the PC version that the air vehicles don't stand a prayer and that it's too easy to shoot them down with 32 people to a side. On the consoles I think it's fairly balanced, since with only 12 to a side there are fewer people shooting those missiles.
^I was talking about shooting down other enemy jets in a dog fight. How the heck you do that without missiles? I wanna get the heat seekers on the jets and heli's... Only like need like +370 so it shouldn't take long but I find it impossible to shoot other jets down when they are flying all over the the place. They're just to fast.
Ah, sorry. I don't even fly the jets at all, so I can't help you with that. But the SA-18 IGLA and FIM-92 STINGER that you unlock after only 3,000 points can take jets down from the ground easy. One shot diables them, another destroys them.
Takes practice I guess. Heat seakers are good, but you need to be able to shoot them down because of flares.
Shootin down aircraft for me is hard as a mug. They either have a lot of stealth so my CD is longer than their flares, or they are doubling up on flares so their cooldown on them is lower than my AA again. It takes a full squad to take good pilots out when I've played Soflam and/or a couple of rockets just to take down one. Now if an AA tank is around, that makes it easier if you can protect it. Still fun though, I mean as infantry I should be scared of aircraft.
i dont know if it has been patched, and i dont see why it would, but you can level up your engineer class by having a friend that has an eod bot deploy it in hardcore mode. then you, as an engineer, repair it with your torch as he puts shots into it. Make sure he switches his gun to single shot. It is super boring and a little cheap. I did it once, but it got real annoying. it did level me from a level 5 to a level 12 in one match.
Just a friendly warning, EA and DICE have been wiping the stats/progress and/or banning people for utilizing exploits that rack up points really fast ("boosting"). I'm surprised you haven't heard anything before now about this... people have been talking about it for weeks. http://www.techspot.com/news/46252-...lefield-3-cheaters-stats-wiping-boosters.html You'd better hope no one reports you...
EA is banning people for stat padding, they can tell from the stats uploaded from the servers if rounds (and ranking up) is legit. (and not empty customized servers)
Is the AEK-917 really all that good cause I got it recently and I don't find it as efficient as the M416. I only unlocked the x4 scope for it however... Got the UMP-45 not to long ago and wondering should I get add-ons for that first or keep going with the AEK-917. BTW how far into the recon class do you have to go it get the single bot add-on and the MAV? Right now I'm at the SV-98 with just a few add-ons so far...
I like it better. My loadout with it is RDS, undersling (w/ grenade launcher), tac-light. I think it handles better than the M416 due to less vertical drift. Along with it's highest ROF of all weapons, that makes it my favorite Assault class weapon.
You unlock the MAV at 45,000 recon points, right after unlocking the SOFLAM at 26,000. The straight pull bolt is unlocked at 60 kills for each of the bolt-action sniper rifles. However, it goes in the same slot as the bipod, which is an extremely important item for getting headshots at long range, so I never use the SPB.
Finally i unlock the m240b with reflex, grip and suppressor. That gun is sick! Very accurate when you tap tap tap instead of hold and spray at cqc and long range. Can't wait to test out the m60
I've seen people "boosting" a couple of times. I actually did some boosting with a group of people last night. Didn't do it the way that you mentioned with the EOD BOT tho. It was fun for the first couple of minutes but got real boring after a little while. I did get a couple of new add-ons for the AEK-917 but that was bout it. We ran into something hilarious where I got glitched twice in the game and couldn't die unless by grenade. I felt like the Terminator with bullets doing nothing to me.
Never understood why people are looking for shortcuts in the game. You'll get points just playing the game. Unlocks will come. There are enemies to shoot and objectives to accomplish.
Oh ya, if any of you care, I play PC and my soldier's name is the same as my CF handle here. That way you can make fun of my stats
What is the difference in shooting modes on the GC36 or whatever that gun is called? What does changing the spread do?
To me, if it's up close and personal, you do a bit of spray-and-pray. I mean aim from the hip close. Mid range/aim down the sight range, is burst unless you know you can hit with all rounds if you go full auto. To me selecting burst is pointless. Not all weapons have the burst option either. Long range, I'll select single fire sometimes to keep my aim better and not waste rounds. The downside? When I'm playing hardcore, I don't see my fire-mode, so it sucks when I get surprised, pull my trigger...and get one round off, hahah!
I just did it so I could unlock the foregrip and the RDS. Some people do it to get better K/D ratios but I don't care for that.
