    Update after Gutter Snipe's picks:

The Beatles 31, The Doors 9
The Rolling Stones 22, The Who 17
Led Zeppelin 29, The Ramones 11
Pink Floyd 23, Queen 17 - Queen really closing the gap here.

Pretty sad that not a single band listed in the Elite Eight released their first album after 1976. Did rock music really die 30 years ago?

    Beatles
    Stones
    Led
    Queen

I just went back and looked at mine, I had 6 of our current 8. I had Grateful Dead against the Beatles with the Dead beating the Doors to get in, and I had the Police beating Queen to take on Floyd.

This has been fun, thanks again Manny.

    Bracket A:
    The Beatles- blow out city

    Bracket B:
The Rolling Stones- i like the who but i do get bored with them. stones just have too many great songs.

    Bracket C:
Led Zeppelin- the inner punk in me hates to do this but on the strength of physical graffiti, led zep by a hair. i was at a friends the other night listening to the ramone's, mission of burma, agent orange etc. then we started listening to sabbath and i insisted that my friend play physical graffiti next. they are out of their minds on this album.

The world according to Fatty FatBastard says you're wrong because Zep's "run" ended in 1973. ;) :D

Beatles- if it weren't for the Beatles we all would still be listening to Elvis.

Stones - The god fathers of the self destructive lifestyle, yet they still alive!

Zep- as if this was even a choice

Pink - Queen is just creepy, an neither is quite in the same class as the choices above.

Notice it's an all British ballot, why are they just better historically than American bands? You've got Aerosmith and the Eagles (and in my mind Little Feat, The Allman Brothers Band) but really they aren't in the same class for creativity, volume of production, universal appeal and longitivity.
