i don't mind people cracking on me. i was pretty specific about recognizing that this is all amatter of tastes. I just think a lot of this music sounds like crap you hear a 43 year old dirty mechanic with a doo-rag on listening to that alks about how much his kids music sucks. He's rockin out to skynyrd talking about how Franz Ferdinand, The Used, and The Hives all sound like ****e. I just disagree. Music has evolved. The GREAT ones are still great (Beatles, etc...) but the new stuff is fantastic , too.

I pretty much agree, but U2 and REM will always SUCK! (geeks have no place in rock)

BTW Chance, I've come up with a good song lyric I'd like you to listen to. Give me a week, and I'll call you. (I've still got my other songs I'd like to do. I just want to have some freed up money for y'all so I can placate your time.)

Sorry Fatty - just like Pink Floyd and The Cure is not for everyone, RHCP is not for me. I find the music of RHCP annoying (and that is being nice).

Yea, the Cult should have been there but I guess they were not one of A-Train's favorites compared to Chicago.:D ;)

I'm pleasantly surprised how well received Soundgarden has been on the board. I had no idea so many people knew of them. I thought I was one of the few smart ones that appreciated them, ha. I do probably have more songs by them than most, however. I can conceivably see that Cinderella team going to the Elite 8 - that would be spectacular.

Speaking of Grunge, I'm surprised Pearl Jam isn't doing better. I thought they would have a real close match with U2. That one was basically a tossup for me.

I see the only other double-digit seed in CCR going to the Elite 8 too (The Police won't go that far with the following Queen has on the board). Both are in my top 10-15 bands, so it's good to see.

I'm shocked The Police are handling Metallica the way they are.:(

Fair enough. But I am going to make you (that's right... make you) download "knock me down" by RHCP. It was written as a tribute to their original lead guitarist, who OD'd and eventually died. Best song by them.

"If you see me get me getting mighty
If you see me getting high
    Knock me down
    I'm not bigger than life"

Listen to it a few times. It will give you goose bumps.

Also, burn "pretty little ditty". I bet you'll figure out what rap song it was sampled off of. :p

(come my lady, come, come my lady. You're my butterfly sugar, baby)

    Seriously MR,

If that's the only reason you don't care for GNR, then you may be missing out on some amazing music. Yea, Axl can be a prick, but he's a musical mastermind.

    Bracket A:

    1) The Beatles
guns n roses is among my top five bands but the beatles will forever be the greatest band of all time and the eventual winner of this poll anyways. i do see led zeppelin giving them a run though.

    4) Van Halen
it wasn't until i heard tom sawyer for the 500 millionth time that i realized it was a man singing. i can't stand rush at all no matter how well they play. van halen kicks ass and eddie is my second favorite guitar player to jimmy page.

    6) The Cure
    3) The Doors NO VOTE
i was going to vote for the cure because the doors suck but then i remembered they did that monday i'm in love song which sucks too so i was torn.

    2) The Eagles
i only know one song by the dead and hotel california doesn't suck AT ALL so i vote for th eagles.

    Bracket B:

    1) The Rolling Stones
REM? really? i honestly might vote britney spears before michael stipe.

    12) Soundgarden
i'm not big on face painting and soundgarden was the second best band of the grunge era to my boys alice in chains who i guess got eliminated? this is my first vote.

    6) Nirvana
i actually like tom petty but nevermind is better then anything he ever did.

    2) The Who
the who is awesome. keith moon is awesome. i actually think they might be able to best the stones in this bracket. i'll vote for them anyhow.

    Bracket C:

    1) Led Zeppelin
my second favorite band ever and i'm listening to ten years gone right as i'm typing this.

    4) AC/DC
they did the houston thunderbears song, remember that? thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah, thunderstruck!

    3) ZZ Top
last time i checked CCR weren't rockets fans. zz top should maybe win this whole thing on that alone.

    7) The Ramones
i don't listen to the ramones enough to judge their music but aerosmith lost when they made that armageddon song. wow.

    Bracket D:

    1) Pink Floyd
i have no idea what a depeche mode song sounds like and pink floyd wrote dark side of the moon. i mean c'mon.

    5) Pearl Jam
    4) U2 NO VOTE
for opposite reasons as the doors and the cure, i like both these bands too much.

    3) Metallica
i have to severly dock them for st.anger but they still win. i even like load and reload. does that mean none of my votes count?

    2) Queen
i don't know any songs by the cars , sorry cars fans.
