damn, man..... CCR vs. ZZTop??? that one was real tough. i had a hard time w/ RHCP and The Who.

 

Bracket A:

1) The Beatles- Not a big Beatles fan, and this is probably the last vote from me they will manage...but they likely don't need my help to coast into the final four. Great band, just not my taste.


5) Rush- VH has some great party rock...I just like more Rush songs


3) The Doors- Both bands are good, Doors songs are more powerful


2) The Eagles- I don't have a lot of tolerance for epic soloing-noodling on instruments...sorry to all my musician friends. Only liked "Friend of the Devil". Eagles have a nice easy country-rock sensibiility

Bracket B:

1) The Rolling Stones- I like R.E.M but they are really overmatched here.


12) Soundgarden- KISS is fun, but Soundgarden was the best of its era, IMHO.


6) Nirvana- I liked "Southern Accents" and Nirvana had a short career. But to me Nirvana had more powerful, evocative songs.


2) The Who- Hate to see the Peppers go...tough break in the matchup

Bracket C:

1) Led Zeppelin- Superb over merely very good


4) AC/DC- Not a huge fan of eithet


3) ZZ Top- A little home cooking for the local guys

7) The Ramones- I listen to more Aerosmith...but I think the Ramones put out less crappy music...thus the edge


Bracket D:

1) Pink Floyd- I like Depeche Mode...But Floyd is Floyd (like Duke is Duke)


4) U2- Best matchup on the board...Bono in a squeaker


11) The Police- Showing my age, and a general distaste for Lars and the boys recent efforts


2) Queen- The Cars should be ecstatic to be mentioned in the same breath with Queen

Personally, I think you're just trying to stir things up.
Maybe I'll post my own list like that, when I can spare the time. I also think there were some really good to great bands left off altogether, but I give Manny kudos with going to all this trouble. And it's fun.

1) The Beatles *** - not fair for guns. they definately rocked harder, but its the f'ing beatles mate. everyone knows they are already going to win this.
8) Guns N Roses

5) Rush
4) Van Halen *** - diamond dave era only. to me, halen died in a firey plane crash in 1984. all except michael anthony, who was crushed to death underneath a herum of 15 year old groupies during a love-tryst gone awray.

6) The Cure *** - cure is one of my all time favs. that, and i cant stand the doors. easy.

7) Grateful Dead *** - not a huge dead fan, but cant stand the eagles. soul-less slicked out hollywood studio musicians totally ripping of flying burritto bros and gram parsons. all their royalties should go to the parsons estate. the day i vote for them is the day "hell freezes over".

1) The Rolling Stones *** - love me some rem (80's era only). but its the stones. gotta go with em. stones are final 4 material.

4) KISS *** - this is tough. i do like soundgarden better, but i think kiss would put on a better show during a "battle of the bands" so they win. soundgarden doenst wear make-up or blow fire or have explosions.

6) Nirvana *** - i like nirvana better (voted for beach boys though) and why is tom petty (solo artist? here but not springsteen?)
