OK, a 19 year old guard is averaging 3.7 points more than a 23 year old center while averaging 4 more assists and only 3.3 fewer rebounds. As far as toughness and will to dominate, he already years ahead. And in 11 years, barring injury, LeBron will be 30 years old, and just hitting his prime. Yao will be 34 and on the downside of career. And you can delude yourself all you want. There is ZERO possibility, Cleveland would trade LeBron for Yao. Ask any unbiased 3rd party and you will hear the same.
Juugie, I just found almost all your posts were against Yao. If this thread is to compare Yao to Bradley. I am afraid you will say Bradley is better.
i forgot to tell i am also a ROF and FOF. i am also a Dream's FAN ....., i won't list all of them, but remember check this post before you mark me with anything.
Here's my top 10 list Jordan Magic Bird Wilt Kareem Oscar Dr. J Russell Elgin Baylor Jerry West Not in that order. I really wanted to put Dream on that list, but I think he's just outside of it. Definitely top 15 though. Only 3 of them are centers.
I didn't say center and I didn't say "one of." LeBron has a chance to be the greatest basketball player ever. That's what his potential is. I've not heard anyone make the same comment about Yao.
Cleveland would not trade LJ for Yao. LJ is much more likely to sell out the arena then Yao. I don't think the rockets would ever trade Yao either just because all the extra international money he brings in. Either one of them would have to tank pretty bad to be moved.
Lets look in the last 20-25 years and count rings Magic - 5 Kareem - 5 Bird - 3 Zeke - 2 Jordan - 6 Dream - 2 Duncan - 2 Shaq - 3 Kobe - 3 Little Men - 19 Big Men - 12
Since the tickets for this one are going to sell regardless of whether I posted this here or not, I actually thought I was trying to be of service to clutchfans members on this one, not advertising. But ... let's talk live. Stuff like this is better handled that way. Tim
Saying that I think LeBron is better than Yao is not being against Yao. I just hate when people make statements like Yao is better than LeBron and the only answer they have when you question them is "Well, Yao is tall..." Much like if someone posted that SF is better than Jason Kidd cause Steve can jump higher, they would be roasted to no end.
your list? <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_4.gif' border=0></a> you use your list to prove your statement is right and prove i am wrong or everyone is wrong? <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_4.gif' border=0></a> absolutely, you're going to be right forever. how can you be wrong? i only heard police always say to a suspect: what you are going to say could be used against yourself. does anyone tell me it could be in other way?
come on they say that about players all the time.. its called the hype machine. how many times have we heard baby jordan?!? Penny? Kobe? Grant Hill? I mean we hear stuff like that constantly, its no big deal anymore. The NBA is the most overrated hyped sport in history. J
Saying that I think Yao is better than Lebron is not being against Lebron. I just hate when people make statements like Lebron is better than Yao and the only answer they have when you question them is "Well, Lebron is young...". by Juugie wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_11_3.gif' border=0></a>
I've seen both. All I have to say is Yao has a much bigger impact to the game than LJ at this moment.
Actually I was wrong about one thing. It's not fair to compare LeBron's numbers against Yao's this year. You gave to compare rookie year to rookie year. Yao 13.5ppg 8.2 rpg 1.7 apg. And actually LeBron is a better, scorer, passer, and competitor than Yao.
Heh...I was at work! Nevertheless, here's the issue about your YOUR POINTS... YOU BELIEVE that Yao is BETTER than LeBron now. Ok, fine. But to extend this greatness, regardless of other players abilities is not looking at the whole picture. It's narrow-minded and self-centered. All you are doing is taking Yao stats today, and saying that they will be perpetual for the rest of his career, and then claim that LeBron will only be an average/good player. Yet, you contradict yourself by ADMITTING that LeBron will improve, but then recant that "improvement" by saying that he wont achieve the same level as Yao (or Jordan) because he's selfish, or no players will want to play with him because they want money, or he wont pass, or he's only athletic, etc, etc... This all comes from a preconceived notion of yours that MOST AMERICAN players are selfish. Don't you? You refuses to acknowledge that LeBron will be a great player and that he's not "most American players." All you can do is pump up Yao, but downgrade LeBron, regardless of the evidence that shows otherwise: His youth, his maturity, his ability to score at such a young age, his ability to pass the ball well for SG, his strength, and his willingness to work hard. Yet you completely ignore any of theses facts, and just imply that he will be average or at best just good. And here's some other points where you flip-flop back and forth, contradicting yourself, trying to downgrade LeBron's talent... One, you say that Yao doesn't get the ball. And that LeBron takes most of the shots. I hope you know that it takes ENERGY to shoot and get position. You just don't "take 20 shots" because you want to. It takes talent, energy and skill to get those shots in the first place. Now of course, you can't see that LeBron actually has the body strength and speed to actually get those shots in the first place. Yet, you refuse to acknowledge that fact about LeBron's strength and speed. That is a factor. His stats, for a 19 year old, and ability to perform at this level on the court is AMAZING for a player of his age! It's never happened before. Not from a H.S. player. That's another fact. You refuse to see this. You also say that Lebron has not lead his team to a winning season (Duh! He's a 19 year old rookie!). Did Jordan? That's not the point! He's learning. Give him time. You don't judge a player for the rest of his career based on just his first year record. As far as the Cavs talent roster? Sure, they have some good talent. But just joining a team in the first year is no way to judge a player's future impact on that team. He will need time to jell with his teammates in order to get to know them. This is the same for Yao. Star players need the right type of teammates; chemistry and a blend of talent. As far as your claim that the Cavs has more talent than the Rockets. In case you haven't noticed, the Rockets have talent too. And if we didn't have JJ, Francis, Mobley, MoT and Cato -- some of whom have been on the Rox for a while -- but rather a bunch of scubs. Yao's would be in a worse situation to get wins than he does now. So, to say that each player much lead his team to more wins with LESS talent (in order to prove which player is better) is ludicrous. That's not how the real world works. You can't have it both ways. If you have a team with one leader, and role players. That puts more burden on that single star player. And their chance of winning a tittle is that much less. Sometimes I feel you're more interested in trying to show that Yao is leading his team by himself (relatively speaking) just so that you can say, "See, he's better. He lead the team with less talent." That's just crazy thinking. You don't do that. You surround your star player with another star player that is willing to take a back-seat, and maybe another near-all star. Because in the end, it's the TEAM that wins the title. And the best TEAM will win. And that means that you actually have to have TALENT on that team, regardless of your wish to prove that Yao could have done it with less talent (in your crusade to prove that Yao is better than LeBron). The bottom line is that you are purposely in denial, or just blind about LeBrons talent. Most of your assessments are nothing but WISHFUL THINKING. In fact, it's not that you really believe what you say, it's that you WISH what you saying will come true. Maybe you secretly DONT WANT ANYONE TO CHALLENGE YAO. Face the facts man! LeBron is going to be a great player and we're going to have to deal with him whether you believe or not(or don't like him). Even though you want to convince yourself otherwise. We all know how good Yao is and will become. But, you refuses to believe how good LeBron will become out of your own jealousies and preconceived notions. LeBron is not Francis!
Since when has Bird been a "little man"? He's not a center, but he's not a guard of Lebron's stature. Obviously, one can't compare centers to all other positions on the court. And convenient of you to leave out Bill Russell's championships... Also, Kobe's not exactly the first option for the Lakers, so he hardly "carried" his team to the championships.
Let's compare Lebron's rookie year and Francis's first year: overall: Francis: 36.1mins, 44.5%fg, 34.5%3pt, 78.6%ft, 5.30 rpg, 6.6apg,1.53spg,0.38bpg,3.97TOs,18.0ppg, 14.5fga Lebron: 39.8mins, 41%fg, 28.2%3pt,76.8%ft,5.70rpg, 5.7apg,1.46spg,0.74bpg,3.56TOs,20.6ppg,19.1fga I'd say francis is better than Lebron in his Rookie year. Lebron has to take 4 more shots a game to average 2 more points than Francis. Not to mention he does that in amost 4 more minutes per game. Does that mean Francis is better stats wise now than his rockie year ? If not, what makes you so sure that Lebron would be a lot better after 4 years? A lot people's stats improves during their career because they get to play more minutes, but Lebron is playing 40minutes already.
I don't say Bird is a little man, and dont' forget Perish and Machale, two big man HOFers on that team.
I think LJ is gona be better than Yao long term so get over it AggNRox & please do me a favor and take you head out of your ass and listen to other peoples opinions, thanks
