Funny because Romo gets compared to Farve a lot by sports experts. Never heard Garcia before and dont see the comparison.

You know how much that doesn't make sense? The Cowboys are America's Team. Always have been and always will be. Just deal with it.

Not many people get to see Jeff Garcia play football, so not many would be able to make the comparison unfortunately.

But none of this thread matters, just as no game in the NFC matters.

The Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl 69-3 so it doesn't matter.

Because Favre is a "sexy" comparison. Just like saying Reggie Bush is the next Barry Sander is more appealing than saying he's the next Eric Metcalf.

You always have to compare guys to elite players. If you compare them to players who are just good, fans get insulted.

Yeah, but the only way I would actually root for the Patriots would be if Dallas were in the super bowl. So.. actually, I want to see Dallas win out. Then that super bowl game is gonna be so much fun.

I clearly understand your point of view.

Romo's hero is Farve, that is part of it. Romo IMO is a little bit cross of Garcia and Farve. He is very instinctive and risky like Farve, but with tools closer (though probably superior) to that of Garcia. Farve is his prime was just a sick talent, I'd say maybe only Elway in his prime had more raw playmaking talent. Romo isn't that, but he still is a special QB.

The Boys are America's team, it isn't about Dallas the City (who cares about the Mavs, Rangers or Stars outside that area???) but about the Cowboys. Just a fact of life, it is popular culture. They are the most watched and most bought/weared team in America. Only the Pittsburgh Stealers bring anywhere near the same kind of crew in opposing stadiums, and well the Stealers are a bunch of obnoxious bull**it thiefs (at least 2 superbowls directly resulted from refs working for them--maybe old mob ties), so that scratches them off ever competing for that title.

As for the game, Green Bay has really been playing well. I think the Boys have better balance (running game because of the Oline and backs) and more weapons to give them the edge, but the game could eaily go either way. I think it is more important for the Packers. If the Packers can't beat them on the roll they are on, I have a hard time seeing them upending Dallas in the NFC championship. Also, consider Dallas is still integrating more parts defensively--finally getting Ellis, Tank, Henry, and Newman on the same field, and should have their #2 WR for the playoffs (Terry Glenn). Dallas is just going to get better building towards the playoffs barring injury.

Also, Dallas can win in Green Bay. Dallas has the more physical runner (Barber) and a more physical power Oline. I sure would rather have home field, but this does not determine the NFC champion either way. Farve will give GB a chance anywhere, and Dallas more diversified weapons give them some advantages anywhere.

...this whole "Favre is his favorite QB" thing is going to get out of hand soon.. because pretty much every QB drafted post-2003 is saying that Favre was the QB they modeled/admired the most...

We can't just use that as a qualifier.

I personally see -very little- similarities in their games.

Garcia didn't get into the league spotlight until he was already over 30. So that also kind of skews the perceived skillset there.. and then Garcia virtually disappeared as a QB from 2003-2006, so there goes another few years of everyone forgetting how Garcia plays..

I stand by my comparison, and I'm glad to see someone recognizes a bit of its credibility.

Green Bay is playing very well, but the fact of the matter is that they have whipped up on a bunch of crappy and average teams, and have not played anybody to the level of the Dallas Cowboys. Who have the Packers beaten?? The Giants??? Philly??? The Cowboys have destroyed both of those teams. The Packers lost at home to the Bears, whom which the Cowboys embarassed in Chicago. The Cowboys lost to the greatest team of all time, and had the lead in the 3rd quarter.

Both teams are playing well and with a lot of confidence, but the Cowboys are simply a more talented team and the Packers will be overmatched in this game on both sides of the ball.

The Pack are banged up as well, Woodson got hurt yesterday as well as KGB and Aaron Kampman.

Cowboys defense has been getting better and better all yr, and I dont see GB being able to do anything whatsoever on the ground. I see Favre having to throw it about 50 times, and Ware, Ellis and co. wreaking havoc on an avg GB offensive line.

America's Team is for real folks. Get used to it.

Totally agree. There comes a point, from building up your fan base, then taking advantage of them, where you absolutely abuse your fan base. This is ridiculous.

And call me a terrorist, but I'm tired of the label 'America's team'. Especially when it's in a leauge with no teams outside the U.S. Doesn't really make sense to me.

There are two teams outside the U.S. The texans and Cowboys are from the country of the Republic of Texas.

If that's the case then how can they be America's team if they're not in America?

I wonder if Brett Favre know he's 0-8 lifetime at Texas Stadium?
