You are not right at all. He's had some games since AllStar Break when he was REALLY cutting to the basket especially when his man helped on Yao. I understand he takes good shots. But those are not shots created by our offense. He finds himself wide open because players know he cannot make shots. That is why every team watches video before games. So even when you wide open jumpers are not going in, you have to find different way to help your team. I am not saying he is killing this team. He is just becomming another Chuck Hayes from 06/07 season (when he was a starter).
That made no sense. He finds himself open because players know he can't shoot? Yet they watch film but in the films they should obvious see Battier hitting clutch shots. Your talking about All-star break. Wow. Try looking at his whole 7 or 8 year career instead of recently
I've said several times that him hitting htat shot is important. However saying that it "starts with Shane" is completely ignoring far bigger issues. I agree with this 100% My issue is when people say our deficiences are Battier's fault, which several here have said. That's not true. It's part of the issue, but really by comparison isn't as big as the other things you and I have listed.
that's exactly what i've been trying to get across. Look at some issues that keep creeping out throughout the season 1. yao being fronted, cant get him ball 2. artest dribbling too much 3. shane's shooting 4. inability to close out games 5. ball movement 6. Yao being doubled 4 and 5 involve the whole team. 2 and 3 are individual issues. 1 and 6 involves a mixture of both. 1,4,5,6 all will take some practice time and cooperation from the team. These are the major issues and need immediate and constant attention. 2 and 3 need to be dealt directly by the player or the coach. Artest is too much of a knucklehead to change, and Adelman isn't going to bench him or reduce his minutes because he's our #2 guy. Battier however, is probably working on it and trying to fix his problem. I think it's likely he'll have it fixed by the playoffs, BUT, even if its not, all Adelman has to do is reduce his minutes. That's it. He doesn't have to wait untilt he next game or for a few practices. This can be taken care of in-game. That's exactly why it's not bothering the team or adelman like it is fans. The teams realizes they need to devote their time and practice to the bigger issues, which will be more difficult to tweak within a game. I think it's fair to say most of the fans complaining about Shane would be content with shane just going back to hitting 40% of his threes, even if its only on a few attempts and 10ppg like he use to do.
He is absolutely right. While the headless chicken play post was hilarious, it really illustrates that this team has yet to put it all together. Kudos to Shane for avoiding the empty cheerleading and puffery and for telling it like it is. We should not be working this hard to close out games against inferior comp. Also, we're going to need whatever it is that Shane does to win playoff games.
i think he will, just try to be positive toward our rockets rather then being negative. it wont change anything. but i bet you if hit a 3 point game winner against the pistons all the haters here will shut up.
shane did not say that he was ready and that his team was not. i'm pretty sure he's well aware of his shortcomings. shane is a smart guy, i wouldn't worry too much about him as he may yet surprise us in the playoffs. shane's not the key though. for us to get out of the first round and beyond we need yao to be dominant. and if you really want to point a finger at a few who aren't ready, then you gotta look at aaron brooks and von wafer. if those two can step it up and if yao averages near 30 a game, we are legit contenders because we play with great effort. go shane, go rockets.
Yes he is. I'm glad that he said this as well because he's sending a message that there's still work to be done.
Agreed, Battier is easily the smartest player on our team basketball wise and basic knowledge wise. He's the only person on the Rockets that probably speaks perfect English too.
I think it's an astute observation by Battier. He should know. He has seen this team, basically by what we know of his time in Houston, at this same level... One star out last year... another out this years, etc... for too many seasons. I hope they can pull it all together in time to get into a second round... We as fans need to see them get off of hover mode. I'm tired of coasting... and 1995 is a long time ago, in a land far, far away. '95 is still classic, but it has seemed a bit like George Lucas has written the dialogue lately. NooooooooOOOOooooooooo!
