[sarcasm] 5 stars for this thread! This is some insightful stuff! He definitely has a problem.. I think this is spreading to other players too! Scola and Lowry must be infected too. wheres the CDC when you need them..[/sarcasm]
When you give 100% you are going to be on the floor. The players that sacrifice their body by take a charge, dive for the ball, or fall from exhaustion are the ones that you want on your team. The guys that remain standing game after game basically have no heart.
If you are talking about when he is driving, i think its because Battier is slower than other players, he goes right into them often hoping for the foul/contact etc. And often the other player often quickly gets out of the way, so hence the falling. Amazing though he still puts the ball in the hole on his way to floor. [sarcasm] I do see where you are coming from. Battier also ruins the game for me when he falls. [/sarcasm]
I agree . Sometimes he's trying to draw the foul, it works in his favor to draw a quick foul than have to create something on the drive since he doesnt do that well. It probably works half the time and the other half he just falls because of the contact.
As soon as his contract expires Battier is going to be the rockets defensive coach... well at least I hope so.
Shane needs a star teammate. He is a perfect complementary player. He doesn't make many mistakes. He doesn't get in the way. But he needs a star to be effective. On offense, he needs either a dominant post player like Yao to kick out for open 3s, or a great wing creator like McGrady to find him open. On defense, he needs an anchor interior defender like Yao for him to force his man into low percentage plays. It is not surprising that he is not as effective as when we had at least one of the Yao-McGrady tandem. The low shooting percentage of Ariza worries me more.
