Concur. I am a fan of his and have said many times I have the greatest respect for Shane's attitude, work ethic, team spirit and intelligence. On retirement I hope he becomes an assistant to Adelman and later the youngest Rockets head coach. However, one must be realistic about his skill set even in the peak of his career. As a player, he was never worth Rudy Gay.
If you call Ariza a glorified role player then what would you call Battier? Battier is the most overrated role player in Rox history. What are his "intangibles?" Sitting in the corner waiting on a pass to take a low percentage 3 pointer? Not cutting to the basket ever? His aversion to scoring inside 23 feet? Yes I understand he plays solid D but even that is in decline. His "leadership" role could easily be taken over by Lowry, Scola or anyone else next season. Plus the $7 mil he banks doesn't help either. I'm hoping Battier come back healthy soon and then gets shipped out in the offseason.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/battier laughing at this because he's the most stable guy on the team.
I didnt want it to go down like this, but its time to move forward without shane. His salary doesnt equal his production. The martin-ariza-buddinger trio is the future of this team. Not to mention jeffries can play 3/4 also. The squad will be cool without shane.
No problem and congratulations! It wouldn't hurt to suggest to the grave dancers that they remove their shoes as a sign of respect, though.
It's possible to like Scrub as a person while hating him as a player. I will cheer the day he is no longer a Rocket (or remains a Rocket but signed at the vet minimum), but I don't wish injury on him.
looking at the replay again, battier seemed to be able to shrug it off initially, took a shot, grabbed a board and drove it in and was fouled...when he got fouled he landed awkwardly and kind of jumped up from the discomfort, not sure if helanded that way because he was favoring the knee...but i think that may have made the injury worse than it was.
Having Shane here to help Ariza and Trevor and now Martin learn how to play proper defense is crucial. He will make them better......but in the offseason, one of Trevor or Shane must go.....either one is fine by me. All these injuries late in the year are not serious, which is good, let the guys heal up and come back strong next season. DD
At this point, as much as I like Battier and think he has been a huge part of our success over the years, I think we should stick with Ariza. He is still young, athletic, and if he can continue just being a role player and not the star I think it will work out.
How did we fair without trevor? DD, you're acting scared again. Maybe you need to polish up yor sandals, lol.
I have told you, I don't care if Trevor or Shane is traded, because Shane's contract expires next year so I see him having that value at the trade deadline. Trevor is expendable as well....either one can go as far as I am concerned, doesn't matter which. I know you have wanted Shane gone....fine by me......but if he stays for the last year, fine by me too, but that means Trevor should have to go.... The only reason I favor Shane over Trevor is a contractual one.....since we do not know how good Yao will be when he gets back, I would rather have Shane's expiring deal (same as Yao's) than Trevor's 4 more years at 7 per.....in case we have to start all over with a smaller budget due to a decreasing revenue stream and new CBA.
