Probably because Kobe plays the two man whilst Shane plays three =) So nah it's not dumb, you're just a little stupid lol =P Though I do agree Shane should be in the 1st team not 2nd (obviously over Bowen).

I must agree though, some of these players are only on here because of their reputation and not defensive skill :S Camby's pretty good, but as for this season - there's better defensive centers in the league, so probably put him in second team.

I'm a huge CP3 fan, but at least I know he's not an amazing defensive player :S He only got on it because of his rep. as well and people know him as a good player, liek he's a decent defender and gets a lot of steals but still, that shouldn't be enough to get you on the 2nd team.

    Agreed,

    signed
    Ben Wallace

It has more to do with, as you said, Battier being an relatively unknown player. I guarantee you, if the Rockets win a championship, Battier gets on the first team for 5 straight years. Developing a reputation as a dirty player won't really help Battier either. As far as I know, coaches don't really have a problem with Bowen, it's the fans and some players that do. On the other hand, Ron Artest has probably made it sure that he won't be on a defensive team ever again. It's more like an 'All-Reputation team'.

A big problem though, as indicated by Bowen being voted in as a guard, is that there really aren't any good guard defenders in the league. The few very good perimeter defenders in the league are all small forwards.

My first team would be Garnett, Battier... the rest really doesn't matter, but those two should've been locks.

p.s. Why is 'should've' recognized as a misspelled word? should have = should've, no?

You know what.. I just read the article from the Rockets.com site. This is the first time he even made the all defensive team (first or second) so at least we have that to applaud (even if he should have been first team) they recognized him a little bit!

How can Camby anchor the worst defense in the NBA and make defensive first team? What a joke. Tyson Chandler should be up there instead of Camby and Battier should be up there instead of Bowen.

Is this voted on by the same writers who had him third in the running for DPOY? Or is this voted on by the coaches and GM's?

I can't believe Duncan and Bowen got ahead of Battier. Both are terribly overrated! Duncan is slow and relies on weak side help. Bowen is just dirty. Camby surprised me too. He's a good weak side blocker, but that's it. One on one in the post he gets killed. He can't even guard his man.

Chandler is ten times better than Camby defensively.
