I can agree with this. I dont think the rox will have a problem taking a long contract, but they would like it to be for a younger player. Like if the warriors were offering Ellis and his 11m till 2013 that different because he will still be under 30 yrs of age. Ellis for Battier,Cook, and brooks makes sense if you think you're out of the fa 2010 sweeps.
Just because Tmac and Yao Ming are horrible signings does that mean you can go ahead and get a less horrible one? The magic made a horrible trade by giving away tmac for francis, so they should trade jameer nelson for rafer alston? Not worry about salary? LOL what kind of thinking is that? What are you Isiah Thomas in disguise?
Yes Ellis would definitely be a different matter, unlike Sjack I think he is worth his contract easily. But if we get him I'd trade Brooks for a bigger pg because you won't be able to play both of them at the same time.
We are not going to waste our cap flexibility on Jackson. We have discussed this already a couple of times on the board and everytime the basis of the argument is... Battier sucks, we need Jackson. Or Battier is redundant now that we have Ariza, so we need a sg instead... Battier is a leader on this team. He is the glue on the court and also is a great influence on the rest of the team off of the court. You really think he would be traded after being asked to be one of the first players to show off the new jersey? You guys who look at stats only aren't getting the whole picture. This isn't a video game. Shane leads in ways that isn't going to show up on your precious stat sheets.
Excellent post. The whole premise of this thread is dumb. Fortunately, our GM is much, much smarter than that.
There's was already a "let's trade for Steven Jackson" thread not too long ago. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=173854&highlight=jackson
You make some terrific points but I think the signing of Ariza and the impending rebuild are strong signals that Battier's days here are numbered. It's not a knock on Battier but rather a likely byproduct of the direction we're heading in. Unless Ariza is a total disappointment after year one, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Battier starting the 2010-11 season in a different uniform.
Hey lets ay tracy leaves us this summer or he doesnt come back soon enough ( i didnt want to say anything otherwise to jinx it). Jackson can step up, also we'll have a relatively young team and buldinger can get more playing time as well as Ariza.
Jackson would increase the average age of this team. He's older than McGrady. Also, Buldinger sounds like Balldinger and that's funny for some reason.
I thin shane is good, but he over rated by this board. He has also shown he chokes in the playoffs from his mem days on.
McGrady + Taylor + Dorsey → Jackson + Biedrins + Azubuike Jackson can be the 6th man covering the 2, 3, and 4. It leaves the Rockets with more flexibility and with better assets to work a later trade. Jack talked trade again... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/09/29/SPDE19TULF.DTL
I wouldn't be surprised to see Battier leave this season, but to send him off for Stephen Jackson is just unbelievably dumb.
The OP meant to say Battier for Corey Maggette, a signed V-Span jersey and a blow-up Wafer doll. What say you now, Double D?
Oh what a morning, I wake up log into Clutchfans and the 1st 5 page thread I see is Captain Jack for Battier trade. Today's gonna be a great day!
I agree and should have mentioned that in the post. I was referring more to his 2nd and 3rd paragraphs.
Considering we have a logjam at the 2/3 now... why would we trade for another one? Please think before typing
This article mentions a trade for him with one of the three Texas teams and with Dallas being highly unlikely leaving only Houston and SA: linky
