So Jackson puts up 10 more ppg, and only 1 less assist and also is not a pg. Tinsley was also a bad shooter from almost anywhere on the court. Tonsely has also been an integral part of a championship team. Again I will ask, what kind of money does 21/7/5 deserve?

Unless this trade UPGRADES the rockets... it sounds not realistic. Is Jackson a clear upgrade over battier? IMO I would say yes.. but that is very very debatable. Remember basketball goes beyond the court into locker rooms, practice floors, Hotels. Its funny when guys in here put the stats up like that the only thing that should matter. Batties IS a class act, and losing that to a team with championship aspirations is enough to hold back.

good point...a 31 y/o with 4 more years on his contract (which tops off at $10MM) is well worth the investment.

with all due respect, quoting stats for a player on the warriors means nothing. they are out there running lay-up drills the whole game and have a green light to just chuck 3's at will.

I'd say, to be fair, it would be somewhere near the 8-11 million range if we were to base that contract on stats alone. (compared with Ron Artest's deal with LA)

However we need to look at the contract of the player. Its a great bargain of a deal if we could get the services of SJax playing for us right now for 7.6mil, I agree, just like how everyone coveted Ron Artest the months before we got him, everyone would love Sjax if he had the same friendly contract. But he still has 36 million left on his contract and who can guarantee that he'd still put up those numbers all the way through? He'd be 35 by the end of that big contract.

Not to mention all the off-court baggage he carries with him which further decreases his value. And Nellie's system gives his players inflated stats numbers.

All factors which indicate its best to stay away from SJax.

How much would you say, Shane Battier, a 7/5/2 player, deserve?

It's funny that this thread is still going on. It's just not going to happen, so the only way you guys who want Jackson on the Rockets, you'll need to make that trade on your video games to be able to see it.

Shane is a leader and barring a major collapse of this team this season, he won't be traded. Too much is provided from Battier that you stat guys blindly look over when you say he stinks..

He is THE leader of the team. He sets up of the defense and the locker room leadership just is too much to trade for a long term risk in Jackson or any other contract unless we get a younger leader...

I know this trade will not happen and isn't even being thought about by the important people
