Come on guys, we both know Shane Battier could have done the exact same thing if he played for Memphis.

Gay >> Battier. Absolutely no question about it.

Well, if Battier really is the "glue", how come the more games we play in the playoffs, the more our team falls apart? Mere hustle players with a three point shot are no glue guys. Killers and warriors like Derek Fisher, Mario Elie, Robert Horry, and Bobby Sura are the real "glue" guys.

Since we can't trade battier back for gay now, our best interest would be to keep him. Regardless of how overrated he is defensively, he is still our BEST defender. The problem in our starting lineup, IMO is not Battier but Rafer and Hayes. Both of them are much more of a liability on offense than battier, but at least hayes is a good defender but is rafer? Hell no. So I see no reason to keep both rafer AND hayes in the starting lineup. Hayes bring defense, rafer brings the ball up the court, oooh big deal.

Why should we be suprised. This is Houston remember? Ahh brings back memories of draft day for the Houston Texans.

Mario Williams drafted number one by the Texans. Texans reject Reggie Bush and Vince Evans.

Rudy Gay drafted with first pick by the Houston Rockets and promptly traded away for Shane Battier.

    See a pattern here?

I meant Vince Young. Vince Evans was the horrible QB for the Chicago Bears before McMahon came along.

Trading for Battier and not winning a playoff series means we weren't trading to win "now." It means we traded to lose back then, now, and later.

What I meant was Gay wouldn't be the 4 karat diamond on our team with TMAC also on the rooster. He'd get garbage time, picking up fouls to cover stars, maybe several starts when T got injured but back to bench later, nothing close to what he get now in Memphis. Even if he struggles to become a starter, Tmac and Yao would be to old to shine. Will you be patient enough to wait.
Comon guys be satisfied with what you got now. Memphis is a losing team anyway.
And if battier hit another game winner maybe you'll sing a different song.

If we are wining so much about the battier trade, I'd rather miss the likes of jefferson, azubuike. Atleast we got something back from Gay.

It was not Gay for Battier straight up.

It was Gay + Swift for Battier.

    Gay - Swift's contract = Battier

But even considering that, it doesn't appear to be a very good trade now, even I really like Battier.

the trade is looking bad to some of you guys now, but it has the potential to look a lot worse down the line. Gay would be a senior at Uconn right now, he's probably going to get a lot better. :(

We should have traded for Miller not Battier , god his shooting could have been so deadly with all the double teams against Yao and Tracy.
